You know, I always pictured Sanae as the motherly figure in her shrine despite the age difference and the whole ancestor/descendant relationship between Suwako and her. After all, Sanae takes care of all the chores, and is often shown to have a bit of a more mature personality than the gods. Still, it's just me, though.
