Guess you live by the motto "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Gotta learn that there's more to Okuu than 6B5C 6C and an occasional 66C or counterhit Yata Dive. It was good to see you started picking up those Dial-[A]s, and abused the hell out of Okuu's b.s. melee (I mean it as a compliment, it's the only other thing that makes her good). Vent is just an online chat client. I thought it might be interesting to see if anyone was interested in it. I also thought it might be a good learning utensil for those, like myself, who want to get better. Basically I do something stupid, person on other end announces it as if I didn't know by being comboed for half my health bar, then gives me a pointer as to how to better myself.

Yeah GG's man. My Grand Patriot's deck, or like I called it before, my Wall deck, really does stack the defence up high. Get the 30% from the cards, and I don't know how much the potion adds. But remember it boosts attack as well. In practice mode, I think it was 5AAA maybe 5B and 236C x2 and I was hitting for ~6k. Just remember, don't drink more than 3, or you go boom.

And we actually had a visitor during the match in the beginning. But besides that, no, you are the only one. Speaking of which, I think there was lag when you left? You left the chat, and then I heard you. I didn't drop Marisa just yet. I have to have more of a cool-off time with her though. I get so accustomed to fighting in single player, I forget what actually works against REAL people... That and I had completely forgotten 90% of the combos I worked on over the weekend.

And playing PatchCon constantly for the past two days didn't help either ;_;

Thank you but I still have a lot that I could improve on.
During our games I noticed that you groundteched away from the corner as often as you could and put myself in position where I could take advantage of that. Also, you airteched every chance you got so I was able to follow it up with an air-unblockable attack. Basically, the problem was that you were being too predictable. I'm sure that if you broke a few of your bad habits you'd be a much better player.

Easier said than done... The problem is that you don't always play against an opponent who punishes every single mistake, so no matter how hard you try to get rid of bad habits, they end up coming back when they aren't punished often enough.

Block more and mash less. You don't have to try and fly out of the corner every time you get trapped. And you don't always have to play so offensively. Wait and see what your opponent is doing and figure out where their weaknesses are. Then you can use what you learned against them. There is no perfect offense, although it might not always seem that way. Use a border escape for the times when you just can't find an opening. When you're always rushing down you won't be able to get any information out of your opponent because all they're doing is blocking.
Every move you do should have some purpose. Sometimes it seemed like you were throwing stuff out for no reason at all. That is why Patchy's 66B was so effective on you. You won't get a chance to block if you're constantly doing something.
Don't forget that you're at a disadvantage when you get up off the ground. Your opponent's move will almost always come out faster than yours. That's why you should never mash on wakeup. Unless your opponent is half the screen away, the best thing you can do when you get up is block. Take that one Yukari / Suika match for example. I stood just outside of your 5a range while you were getting up in the corner. You tried to fly out and got hit with a parasol. Now if you had blocked you probably could have gotten out of there without taking any damage. It's hard for me to keep the pressure up when all the other player does is block. I start to get careless and leave huge gaps in my offense.

>> No.4891526

>>4891502
Just be patient and block. That Marisa broomride trick you use only works because people are too quick to want to get out of pressure. If it's blocked the Marisa player is left wide open. This type of situation is an example of prediction vs reaction. After Marisa's 5b you could either dash forward thinking that she won't use her 214 or you could wait and react to the blocked attack with an attack of your own.
Although these articles refer to traditional fighting games like street fighter, reading them and applying them to this game would really help you improve.

Thanks a lot for your analysis, dude. I think you summed up my flaws pretty well. I'm aware that I am too reckless and that it's the main reason why I keep losing against better players. I don't like to be stuck in blockstrings, and I don't know how to get out of pressure efficiently, so the only thing I do is try to reverse the situation by mashing A or high jumping, but it always ends with me eating a combo. I'll definitely read these articles you linked.

Again, thank you for the help, it's greatly appreciated.

GGs Akagi. I thought something was weird. It didn't make sense that I was beating you that much, but you were practicing with Sanae. You could watch some replays to compare your play.

Some general advice:
5c for cover all the time. Don't jump in with j2a alone, most bullets beat it. Don't depend on charged 3a or 6a crushes. Use 2a staggers and a lot of frametraps. Teach your opponent not to jump by doing a complete dialA. Hers is great. The third hit is special-cancelable. Mix up j2a and j2c. Make use of her airunblockables like 66a and 3a. Stay unpredictable with your strings and use instant j2c, j2a or a special to keep your opponent guessing. Use high-range pokes like j6a or f5a with cover to get in. Her spellcards are mediocre so try if you find a special or two that suit you and use those. As antiair I'd recommend her alt 623, 3a or 2b. First two combo right into her 4 card. J2a as oki hits even if you're facing the wrong side and gives you plenty of options on block.

Hope this helps a little since I don't play Komachi that much.

Something come up or did we just freeze? Seemed like a weird place for you to escape if it was the former. Everyone seems to be blue-balling me lately. If I get you to 1-5% of your health you're supposed to die, damn it. Killing me is against the rules. The 5 card grab you did with Suika was perhaps one of the saddest moments of my SWR career. You could see in the superflash that I had "hit" you with 5A, but apparently she's invincible on start-up. Who'd'a thunk it?

>>4914107
>the wakeup mash thing [Okuus] all do
I only did it once! I swear! Honestly, I do that with everyone though because I expect everyone to fuck up like I do when trying to catch someone one wake-up. I'm always either a tad bit too early and end up attacking while they're still invincible or a tad bit off in my spacing and end up attacking empty air. Either way, I'm open game for wake-up mash.

Haha yeah, usually I'd love to stay around and host a bit more but I ought to be studying for my finals instead of playing SWR. I think It's kind of funny when both players are a fraction away from dying and inevitably the game turns into a guard and bullet poke match. I definately lucked out in those situations more than I should have.

With the Patchy matches, it was when you got the flame swords and hover swords when things really got dicey for me. I learned there was just pain waiting for me if I hovered in the air a bit too long. And then the corner game, where you'd always escape and then punish me up in the air and then I'd be the one in the corner eating your strings. Haha, definately good to play you again.

GGs, Oni. Bleh, can't seem to get my Sticky Bubble deck to work the way I'd like it to. Think I'm going to have to throw in some Suika Gourds, because Sticky Bubble at less than level 3 isn't really worth the investment. So many times I nailed you but failed to get enough for an actual trap. I rather like your Komachi, wish mine played as well. I swear though, if I get hit by one more reverse purple ball, I'm gonna have a cow. GGs Duckator, and thank you for the daily torture!

After reading these two articles, I think I finally understand why you beat me so easily. I got the impression that you did almost everything using reaction, whereas I just throw some attacks and combos randomly, hoping that it will hit sometimes. I can't focus enough to act according to my opponent's moves. The only character giving you a little bit of challenge was Suika, but that's just because doing crazy shit with Suika always ends up with taking a good portion of your opponent's health bar (read: Suika is broken).
What bugged me as well is that I never punished any of your moves, but I was eating punishment after punishment. If I start to block, in order to punish the opponent, I fail to punish and end up eating a combo. And when I decide to attack, you block everything perfectly until I make a mistake and I end up eating a combo as well.

Also, I think I'm going to give up with Sanae, at least until I can input 623 with a 99% accuracy ratio. That's quite frustrating, she's fun to play, but too hard for me.

It's one of Komachi's alternate 236 skills. You need to use the skill card before it's available, so it has to be in your deck. It's the skill with an arrow pointing left, not sure of the name though.
