I only read trough Kirari's normal and Sarina's route so far, but the parts his ex was bitching about were pretty evident, especially in Sarina's route.
And in Kirari's normal(well, for her bad) route, the reason for her death is him being a cold/distant person, both towards Kirari as well as Sarina.

It definitely felt dragged out after he got to the mansion. The argument that got trough to her grandfather is the first thing any sane person would say in this situation. But in general, the way he was acting in this route was exactly was his ex was talking about - acting "mature" that came off as unemotional. There are quite a few instances where other characters are surprised he doesn't think as a normal teenager.
I must say, reading trough that was frustrating, I just wanted to scream at him "stop being so goddamn Japanese you faggot" so many times...
But Kira Kira gets points for making something that would normally make me rage hard actually worthwhile in the end. If I was in his place I wouldn't give two shits about the pathetic waste of flesh that was her grandfather, but this difference in values was what made this route ultimately interesting.
