Agireda is a bitch to capture. The only real good chance you have is the initial Shimazu blitz, just defend against the Yoshihisa and Agireda and let your permit users take back the territories you lose on the next turn. I also found out that she can't be captured till after turn 74 or so after like 500 reloads.

I star the important saves and use the 'delete unmarked saves' feature when the total passes 500. My latest save is #2332.

When you reach the save limit all you have to do is take all or half of the saves or something and either delete them or move them to a different folder.
The engine doesn't care and will recognise new saves as 1000+, apparently it works as long as you actually don't have 999 saves in your save folder.

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth upgrading Penetration Shot (no sex pun intended, it's what the translator named it).

I mean, Penetration Shot 1 is obviously useful. Your musket unit will be able to hit the back row and as long as you have two targets in a line you'll do 100% normal damage.

But Penetration Shot 2 costs two actions. Sure it does 140% of normal damage, but with those two actions you'd have done 200% of normal damage. The one advantage I see is that you frontload your damage (opponents will be weakened much earlier in the fight), but is that really worth 7 Affection and the loss of the regular Penetration Shot ability?

Depends on how you use him. Do you find yourself using penetration shot 1 a lot? If so, you'd probably want to keep it. If not, having penetration shot 2 is good as a desperation move when there's something nasty on the back row you just have to get rid of (and there's a foot soldier preventing direct attacks)

The starting army sizes are fixed per house, so I don't think there's any automatic scaling. More probably they just go up with time. My main experience is Akashi in a VERY slow game, so it's not a good basis for comparison with less broken starting points.

Closing the holes will progress the route, and should be done as soon as possible to avoid losing too much NP. Once you close all the holes you have as much time as you want before actually finishing the route.

As for Shimazu, can't you just kidnap Kurohime?
