Funny, I was running a search for Etrian Odyssey in the archive (for a different purpose) just before i refreshed the /jp/ frontpage and saw this.

I hear you need to use the universal child's play patch (or whatever it's called) because there is some level of AP on the rom.

Only thing really necessary to translate are the skills. I guess not understanding the NPC chatter is a pity, but hardly a big deal.

Anyway, I like a lot of the changes (especially battle speed), and so far the revamped classes and limit system is all quite interesting. First stratum looks nice and doesn't lag at times like EO/SQ II did, but so far I'm bummed about its music. Not as good as the other two so far--maybe it gets better in later strata.

Really? Good luck finding Etrian Odyssey I at non-ripoff prices. I think I spent more on EO I than EO II!

Probably the most ingenious thing the EO/SQ series did was not include a timer. I have no idea how much time I spent on either EO I or EO II, but I suspect it would be somewhere between 100-200 hours for each of them, and I haven't finished 25F on EO II yet.
