Question: Do you need musical talent to handle Vocaloid programs?
Not talking about composing songs, but transmitting an existing song into a Vocaloid version.
I have absolutely zero musical talent, but I can read scores at least.

>> No.4819388

Note: I have the scores of the original song, and it's A Cappella, so there are just voices, no instruments.

Yes.

It is even harder to use than MIDI back when it was useful.

>> No.4819404

No, it's pretty easy. Get FLStudio or something and play around.

>> No.4819421

Two contradicting advices here... Confused whether I should give it a try or not.

>> No.4819430

Do it.

>> No.4819443

It would help you if you at least knew how to read music notes.

just do it, you will probably fail horribly but fuck it.

>> No.4819470

Well, OK, I suppose trying won't hurt... So I should download Teto or something, right?(Because I heard that she's a freeware, and Crypton programs cost something like 20000Y..)

>> No.4819471

I'd say it's as easy/hard to get into/be good at as any other creative software, like Flash, FM8, FL Studio, Photoshop, etc.; with minor variation depending on what experience you have with similar software, your devotion, quality standard, etc. If you have the time/willpower, why the hell not just try it out and see for yourself? As a bottom line I'd say software usage experience, creativity and devotion is more key than musical experience. It wouldn't help shit if you knew how to play a guitar or piano beforehand. If you know how to read scores I'm positive you have some sense of rythm, that's all the musical "experience" you need.

You get one month trial with and Vocaloid program. That should be enough for you to get started.

Thanks for the info!

This is the song I want to transmit, by the way:

You don't need talent, but you need a huge amount of patience and dedication.

I haven't used vocaloid in a while because in the end I couldn't be bothered to keep practicing every day.

Here's something I made last year, it was probably about 15-20 hours of work

>> No.4819530

Why, WHY would you want to vocalize an existing song? We have enough of that shit. We need new content, not rehashed garbage.

>> No.4819538

Knowing music theory certainly wouldn't hurt. If all you're doing is mechanically transcribing a score, you should be OK.

On a purely technical level, the program is fairly straight forward. There's a lot of tutorials out there too.

Shit like that ain't the easiest thing to adapt into Vocaloid vocals. Here's probably something of the best opera adaptions ever made using Vocaloid:

You'll need a shitload of time to pull off something like that.

Unfortunately I can't compose a new song, and I'd personally like to see the songs I like sung by the characters I like. And I would also like to make some rudimentary PV out of it, since I do have at least some experience in drawing.

Yes, it requires a lot of skill to be able to do this vocal style

>> No.4819614

Its probably worth pointing out a lot of the best sounding vocaloid stuff is made in the mixing and composition. Its why so many covers fail. Its very particular as to what works and what doesn't.

>> No.4819615

There is someone who makes Vocaloid choral musics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIOuYY8lkSs
The sad part is that considering the fine quality of this work, it is receiving so little attention, even in Nicovid. ;_;

It's disappointing, but not surprising at all. This sort of music just has no mainstream appeal.

I was confused for a minute... Does "whoring" refer to Chokyoing(調敎) vocaloids?

Have they decided on making a concert blueray? I remember voting in a poll of some sort.

Its just annoying loading lyrics into the program

But all you need to do is just type the lyrics.

The annoying part is adjusting every syllable to follow smoothly from the previous syllable, making the vocals all sound dynamic and human, etc.

Well clearly, the point I was trying to make was just that "loading lyrics" as you put it is not the difficult part.

I can read neither music nor Japanese and I just put together the chorus of a song in a language I do not understand.

I think you'll be fine.

I've had Vocaloid2 for like a year now and I still haven't figured out the proper method to synchronizing the lyrics to match the timing/pace of the original song.

Hi,

This might be a dumb question, but do you know where to purchase Vocaloid2 in North America? Ordering it in a Japanese webpage would be costly and time-consuming. Thanks.

>> No.4824271

>>4824214
You'll definitely have to get it off a Japanese site. Amazon.jp works.

And synths/VSTs are somewhat expensive to begin with.
