>So what exactly are the Eldrazi?

A race of colorless entities (lesser eldrazi can be aligned to colors, but are not really made of that mana) that live between planes. They eat planes for food. Apparently their ultimate goal is the destruction of the multiverse so that all is returned to the Abyss between planes. They tend to have multiple appendages and are attacking pretty much every plane at once during this set.

Plains universally means a white-aligned land.

Emrakul plummets out of the sky crashing into the mountains leaving a giant-spider stain in its wake before immolating in a pillar of eldrich fire. The sentient folk of Zendikar celebrate the sacrifice of their warriors to bring down the Eldrazi foe not knowing what was solely responsible. Hedron Crabs will carve the likeness of the Deadly Recluse into the giant Hedrons scattering the land, further baffling architects for generations to come.

From the moment the Eldrazi arrived, breathed our air, ate and drank, they were doomed. They were undone, destroyed, after all of man's weapons and devices had failed, by one of the tiniest creatures that God in his wisdom put upon this plane. By the toll of a billion deaths, man had earned his immunity, his right to survive among this plane's infinite spiders. And that right is ours against all challenges. For neither do men live nor die in vain.

IIRC there is a MTG card who's flavor text mentions "Nazrin the Relic Hunter." I thought I had an image of it, but I can't find it amid my myriad of Touhou folders.

Ironically, if I had a relic hunter I wouldn't have this problem.

No, you just use some eldrazi lands and eldrazi tokens who give you colorless mana when you sacrifice them in order to play them. You can't reanimate them as they can't go into your graveyard. There are some cards allowing you to play them for a reliatively low cost, though, live the Elvish Piper.

"Eventually there had been a hint of vast, leaping shadows, of a monstrous, half-acoustic pulsing, and of the thin, monotonous piping of an unseen flute - but that was all. Gilman decided he had picked up that last conception from what he had read in the Necronomicon about the mindless entity Azathoth, which rules all time and space from a black throne at the centre of Chaos.
