Because they don't work the same way. Other weapons have their own damage die. Unarmed weapons add, not replace, their damage die to that afforded by martial arts. There were several quite reasonable complaints that MA was locked out of various enchants like elemental damage and invokes if one went double shields. This solves that.

I can type a lot faster than I can click the keys on an on screen virtual keyboard with a mouse. Most everything we need to do in Elin was done in Elona and could be done purely by typing. Now we have to click buttons. It's inherently slower.

it locks every two hours. When it locks you can try opening it and train lockpicking. You can use either lockpicks or nothing to open it, using lockpicks gives more xp though. You can get lockpicks in Derphy in the thieves guild. When you build the practice chest and place it it's unlocked for some reason. You can also get a practice chest at any furniture shop, you just have to be lucky. I think it costs around 1500 orens
