Pointless
Deleting threads just hides the problem for a mod that actually has the power to issue bans.

Janitors was a horrible idea, just recruit more mods.

I don't get the meido thing.

I love board purges. I wish they were a daily occurrence.

They are. And they just keep coming back every day because Janitors can't ban posters.

You do realize that deleted threads are marked for inspection at a later date, right? And that janitors can mark users for administration?

Well, to tell you the truth, I think /a/'s mod also lurks in /jp/ (hence the "modcat" meme, etc.), so I guess he can see to that.

When did we start calling the Janitor Meido, and why did this happen?

Well if this shit keeps up, the meido will have to be upgraded.

Maids clean up the house.
The Janitor cleans up the board.
The board is our house.
Thus, Janitor is a Maid.

And because we are weeaboo losers, we mutated that into Meido.

If mods aren't are absent enough to leave one board covered in raid threads for 10 hours, what in God's name makes you think they're motivated enough to actually look through all that?

You're not from around here, are you boy? You best be headin back to [a/ quick-like

Our "maido" is a lazy faggot that "cleans up" only the things that he thinks it's wrong.

It's fine like it is. /jp/ is fine with light moderation which doesn't hamper discussion too much. Of course, in times of heavy spam and invasion, a janitor or mod is most needed to clean up the board. So far, I think they've done a good job, except for being a bit late.
