Can't say I nagged about certain releases, but I guess I could share some thoughts about BubbleRecord's release.

[BubbleRecords] AQUA
Genre: Electronica

It starts off with an arrange of Nitori's stage theme, hence the cover art. It's very close to home, with the same touch of feel-good as we know from the original. Same thing can be said about the next track - an arrange og Yugi's stage theme - in the respect of fmiliarity. This one is slightly more upbeat, just as we know it from the original. In other words: so far it's very typical Touhou-feel over this release, which may both be a good or a bad thing, in terms of what floats your doujin boat. Next track is probably my favourite - partly thanks to the theme in question of arrangement, and the presentation itself from our dear Pastry. I'm saying this because the arangement in question - Voile, the Magic Library - is one of my favourites, and that the artist chose to focus roughly 50/50 on the trademark prelude of the theme, and the rest - the verse, melodic shift (Koakuma's introduction) and refrain. This pleases me greatly, as the prelude in question works on me like a premature musical climax. The prelude is skillfully looped and merged in two sections of the song, creating good variation throughout the song; and overall we're left with a great, though far from audacious, arrange with the same dark feeiling of magic and mysticism we know from the original. 4th track feautures an arrangement of Keine's stage theme. I'm not quite sure why, but I've always regarded this theme as a rather clever one. It may be the highly likable mix of fast pase and beautiful chimes giving me this impression; point is that this arrange executes this exact incitement of mine perfectly.

>> No.4798003 [DELETED]

By now you should be able to spot a few recurring points of this release: this is indeed a stage theme only arrangement release, and the arranges have so far been very faithfully exectued, leaving no doubt whence the respective arranges hail from. This may please the hardcore 1st rate Touhou fans out there, not getting enough Touhou-esque music. Personally I value variation above the genuin Touhou in my doujin music, so it pleased me to realize that the second half of AQUA slightly differs from the former. I'd say the last three tracks are superior to the former 4 in a creative respect. I'm not implying that the first 4 tracks are dull; even having said that I'm a fan of musical variation, I do enjoy how the familiarity in the opening tracks suits as an appetizer for what BubbleRecords are presenting to us here. That said, the last 3 tracks in this release aren't as immediatly entrancing; instead they offer greater replay value to the release as a whole. This is a clever trick in the field of musical arrangements which suits to please the majority of the fans rather than splitting up the fanbase, without necessairly lowering the overall quality of the album.

>> No.4798007 [DELETED]

In the following order we lastly have arrangements of Orin, Sakuya and Ran's stage themes. I've always loved the refrain of Sakuya's stage theme, making this theme altogether one of my favourite as well. It's a rather calm variation of said refrain in this arrange, but the build-up is still there, making it a nice climax for the song. Orin's arrange spans over an impressive 8 minutes and 20 seconds, and regular melodic shifts keeps the song from getting dull. It's both the most pumpy and instrumental (read:piano) track at the same time. All peculiar feautures aside - not the most astounding song in the album, as the melodic shifts doesn't mix that well together as I'd like to hear. Lastly, Ran's stage themes is one of the more complex themes throughout the Touhou series; making a catchy arrange of it without shamelessly simplifying it can be a proving task, hence the lack of decent arranges of it, in my personal experience of course. This however is one fine arrange indeed; without doubt one of the best I've heard as of yet, and a worthy finale of yet another glorious BubbleRecords release. It's not the best, but hell, that's a case of distinguishing gold from silver - bottom line is that Pastry always delievers something precious.

I don't think so as of now. Just find a couple circles you like and hope they released something (and that it's been uploaded/scanned).

Something really interesting was found the other day, hope you won't mind me posting.

http://www.biomedcentral.com/content/pdf/1741-7007-8-30.pdf

Fully anaerobic animals! Even tardigrades eventually falter without oxygen, but with their (probably) modified mitochondria (called hydrogenosomes) this bunch can pull it off. They also have what is likely a second endosymbiont utilizing the hydrogen produced by the hydrogenosomes. Loricifers sure are awesome, some also have extremely bizarre ways of reproduction involving adults emerging from larvae inside other larvae, if I recall. Yet another species has no adults, only paedogenetic larvae that can reproduce on their own in a way so confusing that I can't make heads or tails of it

http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/121410202/abstract?

Does the mega-larva molt into the ghost-larva, or does the ghost-larva develop inside the mega-larva? Where do the Higgins-larvae connect back into the life cycle? I need to get the fulltext somehow.
