I have absolutely no idea about how to make dolls or even where to buy them.

I have been wondering lately, though, about how much would you expect it to cost in order to commission a Shinku doll (1:1 to Rozen Maiden scale) including box/key/other accoutrements? This includes very fine fabric and body material. Also, where would I go to do so? There aren't any doll shops or dollmakers where I live, so online is probably my best bet.

Thanks for any help or recommendations.

Yeah, I could definitely fix a few things on this dress but I like it anyway. Made it about a year ago for a much less curvy doll but it's fun to try more normal-bodied clothes on DDs.

They only stitch up the back, but what I love about these socks is they're real stretch fabric. They're long on my regular SD girl but a little tight on a DD, I think because her legs are very thick and vinyl isn't as smooth as resin.

unless your doll will sit on table corners or lie down, you need a stand. saddle-stands work well with skirts, waist-stands for most other outfits.
stands are a must.

secondly, more tips:

extra hands add character.
head cap prevents wig staining.
be careful of colorfast clothing, the dye can also stain the doll.
a bodystocking can also prevent some clothes from staining.
IMO my DD has all Volks clothes and an auburn wig and has not suffered any staining (green and red clothes,) but it's something to be aware of

they're just shorter. and they all have the same head mold, (can't unsee) they're not assembly only, you must have stumbled on the parts page. fyi i heard the body parts are loose over the frame. an annoyance for some i heard but nothing that can't be fixed with some foam tape.

Dollfie Dreams and Super Dollfies differ A LOT.
The differences:

SD (like most other asian ball joint dolls or "ABJD"):
Resin construct
Strung
Heavy
Hella expensive
Can chip or crack, strings can rot if not kept

DD (or the Azone line of dolls):
Soft Vinyl
Inner frame like action figures
Comparatively light weight
Cheaper than their resin cousins
Can stain easily!, inner frame can snap if handled improperly

Den of Angels deals with mostly resin types, since that's what a "dollfie" typically is. They do have help and maintenance tips for vinyl dollfies tho, so it's good to check at least to see what you might need incase shit happens like staining or better yet, to prevent such crap happening.

Perhaps a guide for /jp/ by doll owning /jp/ers is wanted?
