But it says nothing about him "eating" the life force that he cuts. What I read in Tsukihime was that all SHIKI's eyes allow him to do is see the lines of life force that lie throughout a person's body, just as Shiki can see the lines of death. When SHIKI cuts a line of life force, he's destroying the energy, and if he does that enough it will kill the person. With Shiki, however, the cut instantly causes the localized "death" of whatever he cut, which usually equates to whatever was cut cleanly splitting along the line of death; when he stabs a point, that destroys the very existence of the object. The main practical difference between their two abilities is that there are no equivalent "points" of life as there are points of death, and I believe SHIKI can't see lines on inanimate objects either.

See, there is information that says SHIKI's eyes work off the same principle as Akiha's Origami (same place that says Roa was wrong and it's actually SHIKI's ability), so I guess I was confused. In the original Tsukihime you're definitely correct on every account, and such a trait is never mentioned.

The only source that could potentially contradict this is the manga, which is overseen by Nasu and is canon, and it's pretty much the stepping stone for the remake in terms of retconning and making everyone more awesome (Ciel uses Magecraft, Shiki kills spells, SHIKI goes Kurenai Sekishu) except unfortunately the maids. Regarding Roa/SHIKI, his MEoDP can now cut shit up and cause physical damage, but otherwise I don't think Nasu changed them.

In other words, I think it's safer to say you're correct. Sorry for my screw up.

The only thing Roa got out of this was being able to influence Shiki, like he did when he got him to kill Arcueid, and eventually transfer himself to Shiki when SHIKI died.
