I opened /a/ for like 10 seconds a few minutes ago and the first thread I saw was "MOE IS THE CANCER KILLING THE ANIME INDUSTRY" and it had like shittons of replies. I didn't open, and I closed the window soon after.

Excuse the meta-thread, but I'm genuinely curious here. About a week ago a noticed a sharp and dramatic increase in the use of emoticons. Along with these little symbols of cancer came a swarm of shitty cookie cutter threads.

Did I miss something here? Is all this caused by spring break, or has 4chan received more media attention that I don't know about? As bad as [a/ normally is, it seemed to really jump the shark about a week ago.
