Really though, you just might be approaching the game incorrectly. The "normal games" are a lot less forgiving than StB in the way that you can't just brute rush a card and hope you get lucky, because you'll have to keep doing that card if you want to get to the later stages. Are you sure you're using your bombs to increase your survivability?

Have you tried following diagrams like these? If you can understand them, then you can probably keep following them until you beat a boss. And if you can do that, then you can probably beat the game unaided at some point.

I can never bomb correctly, period. Either I bomb when I generally don't need to or don't bomb fast enough. 95% of my deaths are out-of-the-blue, so don't say just bomb at any time I feel nervous (as I run out of bombs in two cards if I would).

>Have you tried following diagrams like these?

My memory means I'd have to constantly pause, draw it up, study it for the exact place I am, double check, and start again.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but...

You're doing fine from the beginning to Stage 3, save a few mistakes, but everyone makes those. However, I would definitely move up a bit more, because there's quite a few times where you were probably feeling a whole lot of pressure you didn't need because you were hugging the bottom. Additionally, don't be afraid to unfocus during bosses for a quick dodge. You'll find that one of your main ways of dodging a bullet you didn't notice isn't trying to backup and navigate around it focused, but to simply hold a direction, let go of shift, and pressing it right away again.

From then on, seems like you just need to practice Keine's cards more.

In Stage 4, it becomes definitely apparent that you're moving around WAY too much, and your streaming is incredibly inefficient. Move little to dodge a lot. Don't forget human form is used to kill slaves. There's a lot of times in Marisa where you've started to hug the bottom completely. If you know you're going to go through a gap, grow some balls and move up through it.

Seems like you have a problem dodging random bullets. Hit up some PoFV.

That's all the advice I have so far. There's some more, but I feel like shit because I'm lactose intolerant, and I ate cereal and milk because I had nothing else to eat.

You seem like you've got the basics. It's just keeping it cool as you move up.

Have you played DS? In my opinion, the first 5 levels give a VERY good feel to strengthen the basics. StB helps a lot too. For you, I would recommend 3-1, 3-3, 3-5, 3-6, 5-1, and 5-5.

Some somebody say lactose intolerance?

>> No.4757242

Just about any problems you'll have with bullets hell games come down to the following:

1: Not paying attention to bullets. Pay attention to their direction, speed and any patterns they're creating and move accordingly. Is a bullet aimed at you? You only have to tap a direction to dodge it. Erratic movements will end up killing you.

2: Not bombing when threatened. Bomb whenever you feel you can't handle it, better to last longer and see what you'll be up against later on.

3: Hugging the very bottom. You have an entire play area to your disposal and you should always try to at least make use of half of it.

4: Trying to collect every single dropped item. Either let them come to you, or collect them if you know it's safe too. Only start collecting every item you can when you're comfortable with the stage.

It's not that you can't do it, it's just that you're not realising what's wrong and don't want to improve. Are you born good at anything? Fuck no; you only get better by pushing yourself.

>Hey, I never asked for tips.
Too late.
You move too much. You need to practice your tapping.
Go into focused and press the direction button as FAST AS POSSIBLE. You shouldn't move more than a few pixels. In the replay, you nearly move a character sprite length with a single tap. You can't dodge bullets like that.

The best advice I can give to you is to stop playing Imperishable Night. The focus/unfocus switching to kill familiars obviously isn't one of your good points.
Other than (DS and StB), if you want to keep it Touhou, play SA. That one will teach you streaming and bullet control. You also don't need to move to the collection point because when you grazed (streamed) enough, the items will be auto-collected.

I didn't come to /jp/ for advice, though. I came to /jp/ for information on a(n illegal) mechanic.

I haven't even asked how to operate the Cheat Engine like >>4757307, I've been troubleshooting. All I've managed to do is make the game crash 12 different ways messing with the wrong data, or the right data wrong.

Again, nobody cares.
The tips that guy gave you are enough to save you enough lives to bombspam all your way to Eirin. Go try it, it won't hurt your cheater pride.

All that time you're wasting on trying to operate a cheat engine could have been used to beat the game two times over.

Not the op, but:
1. I can't handle too much bullets, especially if they fly from the different directions under weird angles, e.g. Marisa's 1 card in IN.

2. I always try to dodge all the patterns until the very end if they seem passable (and in most cases, they do) and when I finally fail at that I can't make it to bomb.

3. 4. Flying around, trying to collect all in most cases only get me killed.

Use more bombs and hold shift for focused movement.

Cheat engine is a wonderful tool that has far more applications than beating a touhou game twice. It's well worth learning to use.

Which is why I'm telling you not to do it.

A lot of the bullets are just fodder that you can usually ignore. The ones that should take your immediate attention are the ones accelerating towards you and the ones travelling around you.

At least you've managed to identify a few of your problems - that's the first step towards improving.

Why we try to cheat in a really good game? Just sounds like crap and it makes you look lame!

Besides, someone posted a link to relevant values already anyway. I just want to know how to get em manually in this case. Sure I'm too lazy to ready a tutorial, but whatever.

>> No.4758055

I can actually relate to wanting to cheat in a certain way.

For Touhou I've always wanted to practice spell cards as a pacifist and out-live the timers. DS and StB toss you out in the menu on deaths, which interrupts my practice. IN also toss you out as soon as you die. All others force you through the stage first on practice.

Now just a simple "start at boss with unlimited lives" mode would have been quite fun to practice dodging and patterns. Not that I really die on the levels, they'd just waste my time.

I'm borderline intellectually retarded with no memory or SHMUP/Bullet Hell experience and even I managed to pull off a 1CC of PCB on Normal.

sure I bombed Yuyuko away, but it's still a victory
