And it's not just capture. There's also plot gotchas where you get a gameover or somebody dies simply because you didn't do something at a set time. and then you have to go five fucking turns back to make it in time. IF you have a save back then. yeah, great fun.

The capture percentage is given in the in-game FAQ section and the manual. There's no game overs except for main character deaths or time running out, which is given by a giant countdown timer on all map screens, and you begin the game with and always have one of the strongest characters in the game who has a special attack that cannot ever kill, thus letting you capture anything by letting her attack it.
