Here's what would happen:

Some other major plot important character dies,
forcing Shirou to team up with Ilya,
whom he proceeds to jackhammer because one or both of them needs teh magics,
followed by a MANLY FIGHT at the end,
concluded by the bittersweet death of Ilya, because Nasu can't resist bittersweet parting-of-lovers endings.

All the fights would just be the typical pendulum-swing of one side seemingly at an advantage, then the other, then back again.

Rin would probably be a recurring enemy in an Ilya route.
