Let's stop being jerks about the characters in Umineko.

Looking at episode 4, people tend to take Kyrie and Jessica and come to two conclusions.

Either:

1. Kyrie and Jessica are lying to Battler for reasons unknown.

This certainly SEEMS to be the case, but it flies in the face about Jessica being an obvious moralfag and scapegoat in Ronove's fight. Plus, Kyrie, while jealous, has never been shown to explictly hate Battler.

The second conclusion people come to is that Jessica and Kyrie are being held hostage. The issue with this is that it flies in the face of the characterization of BOTH Kyrie and Jessica.
Jessica would never lead Battler to his death, even if her life was threatened. And Kyrie would realize that she was going to be killed after the conversation was over with Battler.

So therefore, I propose the following.

Kyrie and Jessica figured out what was happening, and, out of the goodness of their heart, warned Battler.
Jessica knew she was going to die, same with Kyrie. But both of them knew that the only way Battler would live would be if he "accepted" the witch. So, heroically and selflessly, they used the last moments of their lives in order to save Battler.

Jessica notes in her conversation that "I hope you... become the head.", and Kyrie asks Battler to accept the witch.

These two women are women of JUSTICE, not women of malice.

I don't know. I think Jessica could very well be trolling. I mean, sheesh, she's the one who started that ridiculous test scenario in the first place, if you think back to the beginning. Answering the phone at the beginning, and crafting an absurd story about Kinzo killing her mother(and also, immediately believing that Kinzo killed her mother just over the phone, despite tearing out the stakes in episode 3, oh, and also the fact that Kinzo is dead), and sending people to their deaths.... that's class a troll material there.

And don't get me started on Kyrie.

Also Jessica is DEAD so it would be hard for her to be Beatrice too.

She is a walking contradiction, but things start to make a bit more sense when you consider Doubletrice.

Also I don't like Doubletrice simply because it's not needed, at all.
Everytime Suit Beato appeared, Shannon could have done it easily.
And Jessica has never been linked in any way to Beatrice.

You could say she is an accomplice or crazy if you want, but her being Beatrice doesn't make sense at all.

>> No.4719075

>>4719044
Not quite. In episode 4, Jessica being Suit Beato makes much more sense. Beyond the obvious requirement of looking similar to Beatrice, it's very easy for her to do what Suit Beato did. Change her hairstyle, put on a new pair of socks, and walk right across her room, and boom, she can go and have her chat with Battler.

Shannon, on the other hand, would literally have to sprint all the way from the well area, hold Jessica hostage and convince her to lie to her cousin about witches even while promising her that she woud die, shoot Jessica, shoot Kyrie, change from her maid outfit into a suit uniform, have a conversation with Battler, dispose of the suit uniform, run all the way back to the well, change back into her meido uniform, set up a complicated suicide mechanism, and die in a limited period of time.

Shannon would have to do all of that.

There are several things against it though.

First, as I already stated before, Jessica couldn't have been Beatrice in episode 1 or 2.
So her disguising herself as Beatrice only for episode 4 seems too contrived.
There has to be some continuity.

Afterward there is the way she died, she was shot with no weapon next to her.
It couldn't have been suicide.
Shannon though could have killed herself and pulled a "10 little niggers" trick.
Seeing all the references to that novel, it's pretty likely.

And Jessica isn't the only one who called Battler, you forgot Kyrie.
Why was so important for both of them to call Battler?
What did that scene means?
I don't think it's as simple as pointing to the culprit.

>> No.4719151

>>4719104
Well, with episode 2, I contest that.
Shannon had a hole in her head, and was clearly dead. Furthermore, she was seen by Battler, the detective. In addition, even if you want to argue that Shannon took Jessica's body, and somehow managed to drag it to her room without anyone noticing and disguised that very same body as herself, you forget that Shannon could very easily use the same trick she used in episode one, and that she had nothing to gain by dressing up Jessica's body as hers.

There are sketchy circumstances behind Jessica's death and Jessica herself in episode 2. The dubious red text, for one, but beyond that, her actions. Note well that in the chapel, she is the one to blame Beatrice almost immediately(contrasting oddly with her previous sentiments about witches not existing, the very same sentiment you alluded to in maintaining that Jessica has no relationship with Beatrice), and then storms off to confront her. Moon-chan people had a field day with that, but I maintain that it is just an expression of Jessica's more complex relationship with Beatrice. This complex relation is hinted at, with her being hot and cold on the subject, from time to time.

And Shannon shooting Jessica is EXACTLY my point. Remember, the scene I labeled Doubletrice.jpg, yes, it has a Beatrice laying down her head and going to sleep(or, more likely, dying), but it also has a Beatrice "finishing up the rest".

I maintain that this is the ACTUAL moment of Jessica's death in episode 4, after the confrontation in the rain failed. Shannon finishes cleaning up the rest like the maid she is, including her And Then There Were None suicide.

My explanation, I feel, is more in line with the scenes in episode 4.

Although, he first accepted this fate only to protect Kaori, in time Yuuto starts to care for the 'spirits' (girls that fight alongside him) and other inhabitants of this world as well...

They look like shorter pantyhose-like stockings with a thicker, opaque band at the top.

Really, that band is just the sock folded over. Instead of changing socks, Jessica just has to unroll the sock and push it down to hide the translucent part.

If she made cosplay she can make some socks that are as crazy as her. Hairstyle details don't matter. To make a bun she would just have to pull her hair halfway through a hair elastic, which would take roughly four seconds if she already had a ponytail in.

Except he doesn't. The butterflies can easily be explained via Battler mistaking glittery confetti for golden butterflies due to his drunkenness. And the times when Kinzo speaks? BATTLER DOESN'T NARRATE THEM. The narration switches to third-person for those scenes. And as Episode 5 shows us, third-person narration is untrustworthy even when the detective is in the room.

In other words: Battler saw Kinzo's corpse in the study. And he also saw someone sitting across from the corpse. Meaning somone else was still alive on the island, whether it was Shannon, Kanon, or Jessica.

>And the times when Kinzo speaks?
Kinzo yelled at Battler, Beato answered him, AND OF COURSE BATTLER DIDN'T HEAR THAT because he's drunk. Yeah, sure.

And finally, Beato in ep 4 mentions that it's their first meeting. No, Beato not simple piece and has at least some memory from the previous games as shown in ep5 where piece-Beato wonders how good the next Bern's piece after Ange will be.

Are you an idiot? None of that happened, because it wasn't narrated from Battler's POV.

> No, Beato not simple piece and has at least some memory from the previous games as shown in ep5 where piece-Beato wonders how good the next Bern's piece after Ange will be.
Whoever the piece Beato of Episode 4 was, she (or they) had no more memory of previous games than piece Battler. The piece Beato of Episode 5 never existed as an actual human in the first place.

Then you are claiming that any phrase said in the presence of the detective, but not narrated with words "I heard" or actual detective's reply can be interpreted that way. Good luck then. And you are still not explained flying confetti.
Whatever, I actually don't care what you believe.

>> No.4724956

You could go as far as to say that the study was burning down, which is how Battler thought he saw "butterflies"

Or a more plausible solution would be, there's just a bunch of candles or lights around the room to give the illusion of butterflies to trick drunk as fuck Battler.

Does any one have links for the drama CD that was released today? It contains Stake's V-day and Beato's White day.

I checked there earlier today, sadly nothing about the drama CD.

All you guys have too shallow knowledge of the episodes and more 'open' theories. You only know the arguments about -trice theories well and that's it.

For example no one ever said that and at least the culprits at the first twilight is almost sure in E1-3 episode already. And then, who said that people can't come to the island after the first twilight, since, as Lambda didn't deny, corpses don't count as people?

That people-coming-onto-the-island-later bit WAS a theory used before, back when the number of people was an inequality. Episode 6 gives us a specific, definite number of people, though, so that idea is no longer applicable.

Okay, got carried away here.

I am pro Moon-chan and anti ShKanon, even though I've seen too damn much signs of ShKanon in the rereadings because of other theories.

>> No.4727216

But that's a good point... who said the culprit in one Episode has to be the same in other Episodes?

And why are there ShKanntrice, Jesstrice, Ponyttler theories out there, but not a single one that says Maria is the culprit?

>> No.4727348

>>4727216
This one is pretty easy, it's clear that there are multiple culprits.

E1: 11 people got shot in the head. There is one single person on the island who could shoot this well and that's Kanon. Beacause Kinzo used to take him out to hunt and he turned out to be quite hax. Alternatively, the Shed is a trap set up by Hideyoshi(the only other person who saw Shannon's body was Kanon) and Shannon is alive. Note that Genji locked it with a padlock.
E2: There is no way it's anyone else than Rosa and some servants, perhaps Genji. I am not saying Rosa did all the killings, but she did the first twilight. Also ee the 'all the kakeras differ in how does Rosa on the conference act with the fact that she had already solved the epitaph to begin with and how does other react to it' theory.
E3: Kinzo's body, Krauss branch is not very bewildered by it and then they are both murdered in a very easily fakable way, which is supported by Jessica and Nanjo. Again, this does not mean everyone else are dead too, see E4 OP's Evatrice killing a heart with the Eagle crest on it.

Well played.

So since only in this episode the girl got balls she's the culprit?

I like the "Jessica is Beatrice, Kinzo's dead, butterflies are confetti but Battler is so wasted he can't tell" theory more.

Nanjo's death is the only one I can't explain, but I thought it was clear the culprit was Eva there...

At least read some red:

Kyrie is the most likely culprit for that murder. She was probably injured, but not killed, then faked her death and killed Nanjo later.

sorry. I typed in the wrong order there.

The explosion that has been hinted at ever since Episode 1 and that is finally explicitly stated to occur in the post-Episode TIPS of Episode 6.

Episode 6 also shows that a character dying in a fantasy scene does not necessarily mean they actually die.
