Can someone type me up a nice little 150 word summery of what exactly touhou is? I'm trying to get into it but there seems to be so much to it.

The Touhou Project (東方Project, Tōhō Purojekuto?), also known as Toho Project or Project Shrine Maiden, is a series focused on bullet hell shooters made by the one-man developer Team Shanghai Alice, whose sole member, known as ZUN, is responsible for all the graphics, music, and programming for the most part.[1] The Touhou Project began in 1996 with the release of the first game, Highly Responsive to Prayers, developed by the group Amusement Makers for the Japanese NEC PC-9801 series of computers. The next four Touhou games released between August 1997 and December 1998 also were released on the NEC PC-9801. The Touhou Project was inactive for the next three and half years until the first Microsoft Windows Touhou game, The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, was released in August 2002 solely by ZUN after he split from Amusement Makers and started Team Shanghai Alice. Touhou Project became a media franchise spanning a steadily increasing number of official games, in addition to commercial fan books, light novels, and manga.

>summery
I associate this particular misspelling with bad fanfiction, so I think I'll give you an answer along those lines.

Are we being raided by /a/ or something?

Touhou was actually created by a Korean programmer named Jun-Suk Kim. The game, which initially was titled as 토호 (translating to "eastern wonderland") was stolen by a Japanese assistant to the original creator, who called himself "ZUN" (note the resemblance to the original programmer's name) and leaked at Comiket before the game could be released in Korea.

To silence Junsuk Kim, the Japanese man known as ZUN threatened to sue him for copyright infringements (as Kim had little evidence that he had indeed created the game) and continued to use the Korean programmer to create additional games for the series.

Not OP obviously, but in what order should one play the games?

Play th01.
Don't bother with the rest of the series, they're poor adaptations of the first one.

Don't listen to Jones. The story is actually told in reverse chronological order, so you'll be completely lost unless you start with 12.5.

Good job, /jp/, a week later this faggot will be back squealing about how "kawaii" that "baka cirno" is, posting with emoticons and yapping about the latest Iosys trash.

Not sure how much there is to yap about in the latest IOSYS album. I don't remember anything remarkable... only the fairly solid music I've come to expect from IOSYS.

That's pretty clear. Just look how you're being flanked by reaction images.
