I did print individual parts of her but they don't fit together very well and i broke a piece (not because it's fragile, just made a stupid mistake).

The smell is pretty bad, because resin is toxic so it must be handled with care.

I can't express in words how special the early years of Vocaloid were. The scene has changed and gone more mainstream. When people were making amateur music with no hopes of getting famous was when the music was the best. It was so original. The early years of Vocaloid stand as the greatest time period of my life. If you weren't there then you won't understand, but it was truly the greatest time to be alive. I'm listening to songs I downloaded 10+ years ago and holding back tears at how special it was to me. The robotic nature of the early voicebanks was charming to me. Time waits for no one and everything changes. If I could go back I would. I'm not saying the scene is bad now, just different. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, I just wanted to remember a gone by age.

I've heard many amateur vocaloid songs, old and new, and once I noticed the patterns I could predict how songs would go the first time I hear them. Can't really say i share the overall sentiment, being someone who discovered Miku near the end of the 2000's with Black Rock Shooter i still have a lot of appreciation with the og Pop/rock sound that most Vocaloid producers had back then but i feel there is a lot more originality, diversity and creativity today. The new generation of vocaloid producers are bringing some much needed freshness into the genre, lots of them aren't afraid to experiment with electronic sounds or being influenced by the west which is apppreciated, i'm all up for it personally. Evolve or be Extinct as they say.

I really want to do that but I struggle to start. Out of all the skills I have ever tried to learn, music production is the one I feel lost with. Even considering how bad my memory and language skills are, learning Japanese is like a walk in part in comparison. Even if it takes me longer, I have clear path of what to do, kana -> anki + grammar -> immersion etc. But with music I really do not know what to do. I tried to start with reading some books from /dmp/, but that didn't really help. They start with theory, which is fine, I do not mind, but the problem is that even if I learn the terms I do not really have any intuition on how to use them. So I need some practice, but if I start making a song, I do not even know how to make a melody. And even if I do come up with something after some headbanging, I do not know how to do sound design to make any of this sound like anything. It's a deadlock, I need to learn more before I can even start practicing, but I can't retain any of this new information to reach that point, because I can't practice. And with limited time I have at my hand and pile of failed attempts, this goal seems unreachable.
I do want to learn it one day, but I need to find some way to get there.

Voiceroid is generally an old engine and harder to work with, but still have much beloved following due to the characters voice having a "soul" (like a sense of authenticity and ease of recognization). To note, some characters like Yukari and the Kotonoha Twins had an update in the mid-2010s as "Voiceroid 2," and those have more modern features (i.e. emotion mixer) than their first iterations.

Gynoid is I think related to Voiceroid in using the same engine, but was developed by Yamaha. While it has a loyal following like voiceroid, Yamaha largely abandoned the project and resorted to leasing their characters to other developers. PIC's Otomachi Una has been leased to Voiceroid 2 and later Voicepeak.

Voicevox is free. It's also newer with machine learning based algorithms, so the voice output is bit more lifelike. However, due to this you need a reasonably modern GPU and a large storage for all the characters you can't download separately. Most famous for Zundamon. Aside from Voicevox there's also numerous free TTS projects like coeiroink, etc.

Voicepeak is another machine learning based paid TTS. It's the easiest to listen to and have the most lifelike speech patterns. However, to many longtime TTS fans it seems "soulless," in that it feels bit unnatural and "non-unique". I think it's due to it being too clear and clean that it's hard to distinguish between characters and has an uncanny valley effect to the ears; although this depends on each listener. You can test yourself comparing Voicevox and Voicepeak Zundamon, and more dramatic between Voiceroid and Voicepeak Touhoku Zunko.

AI VOICE is AHS's update to Voiceroid for their house characters using Machine Learning. One unique feature is that you can merge models of different characters together (max 2) to combine the tone and speech patterns.

Cevio AI is Cevio's update with Machine Learning. Initially not as advanced as AI VOICE, but updates seemed to have lessen that gap. They had a bit of incident with Tsurumaki Maki's voice actress switching. They have a lot of third-party characters unlike AI Voice.

Is it that hard to understand that the appeal is the whole package? Not if it's real or robotic, but if it's good. Not if it's red or blue, but recognizable. Not if it's old or young, but versatile.
People like the characters, their background, their design, and a recognizable voice.
A realistic voice, like Teto, can be as appealing as a robotic voice like Rei's, and it's all in the characters appeal to become popular, or just another vocaloid of the bunch.

Luka probably dropped in popularity as a vocaloid because other more popular voicebanks got updates and fill her range. Like why would someone use Luka when Gumi can sing the same songs she can and others and is just more popular and higher quality.
