I like to think that Reimu's ability to float goes both ways. So when she isn't trying everything goes well, but the second she gets really into something and tries her hardest things go wrong - see the normally aloof shrine maiden stuttering when presenting an event she was psyched to do.

It's hard to tell, a lot of the time Touohu characters are merged with their husbands, for instance Kanako is Takeminakata.
So she is Ookuninushi's son and the one who was defeated and lessened by Takemikazuchi.
We would know for sure if they met, or if Tewi met Okina since she knows Ookuninushi, but I think she is his wife as Ookuninushi = Daikoku and he was sealed by the Lunarians.

I still don't buy this. The way femtofibers and everything are explained in SSiB really makes it seem like she shouldn't be active at all if she really was supposed to be Takeminakata as well. Granted, we don't have a completely clear explanation, and I don't think we'll ever get one because ZUN moment, but I'd argue there are more unexplained questions if we assume they're one in the same.

It's really more that their roles are blended together, or perhaps outright stolen by other characters through some syncretism bullshit for plot convenience.
Yukari bringing up how Okuninushi and Takeminakata are sealed away as a slight against the Lunarians obviously wouldn't make much sense if the victims are out and about and clearly not bothered in the slightest.
If anything, them being sealed away would just make it easier for their identities to be absorbed, since they wouldn't be able to fight against it.

While the explanation isn't clear, in mythology Takeminakata was crippled and in Touhou sealing has ranged from gods being put and trapped inside objects to things like Byakuren being put into another dimension, so I think being weakened and having her influence weakened would count as a sealing, especially since Kanako just overpowered Suwako completely back in the day something kanako can't do in modern times as Suwako is the power house of the shrine while Kanako is a glorified buissness woman.
Besides, Kanako just matches the description of Takiminkata we are given in SSiB and the spell cards that reference him are just powered up spell cards which reference Kanako.
But I'm curious, what unexplained questions would there be if we assume they're one and the same?

Except that's not what that anon said at all. Honestly syncretism after their respective husbandos got sealed makes the most sense to me. We also have nothing to indicate Kanako can't still overpower Suwako last I checked, and like ing the femtofibers to Hokkai is outright dishonest. One is a very clear physical binding while the other is more like house arrest, considering Byak was able to create her Magic Ipad while in there.

Syncretism is a real thing with religions though, so it may be worth looking into, especially since it ties into Okina's character basis as Matarajin quite heavily.

And while I don't think it's written by ZUN the variation of the Takiminkata myth referenced SCoOW, talks about how he resisted than was beaten and begged to be spared under the condition he never leave Suwa, the femto-fibers are also said to limit movement.
So if Kanako was Takeminakata in a historical and nor modern sense I think it would still fit, as after she takes over Suwa through force she is then beatened and weakened by Takemikazuchi and spared the complete humiliation her father was subject to. Her movements and powers would be limited to Suwa and wither, until we meet her weaker version in the modern day who moves the lake who's location she is now closely linked to Gensokyo, somewhat getting around the restrictions placed upon her but still weakened.

They couldn't do that without being able to literally mind-control the entire human race, since that syncretism ultimately comes down to human worship. I'd have to check SCoOW, though considering not all of that is ZUN's writing it is sometimes in contention.

Then again, ZUN will contradict things in the same entry he introduces them, so who knows. We're probably thinking about this harder than he ever did.
