What can I do if I graduate as a Japanese major?

Pic unrelated, although it's Ichigo Mashimaro for those who want to know.

Teach English in Japan? It's not a very desirable degree.

Pretty much. Can't you just learn it without paying through all three anuses for college, and then take a test that proves you're fluent?

Not much in the way of good wages.
Native Japanese teachers of English love to tell native English speakers how to properly speak English and will not back down if they're wrong.
Not everyone likes kids.
No promotion opportunities.
Japanese boards of education are sloooooooooooooow.

>> No.4690414

It's best if you do not major in Japanese but still learn it as much as you can.
If you are determined to major in it (I did similar, EALC major), there are always opportunities available for government, military, and international business. Worse case scenario, you can get into the English-speaking tour guide business.
