And the books stand out too much, too colorful and uhh, dunno how to describe it, there's too much visual noise, looking at it at this scale makes my head hurt. Maybe it's the yellow-blue-yellow type of patterns?

This looks like it'd be a pain but it's surprisingly easy on the eyes imo, though I'd have to see it in motion too. Like the other anon mentioned, it does seem a bit too bright, if you haven't already set up lighting. Definitely also agree with making the wood significantly thicker, anywhere that isn't a closeup makes it look like it's simply books upon books stacked on each other.

My new 2hu OC drawn in ZUN's style! Her name is Matika, which can mean butterfly or messenger in the native language of northwestern American tribes. She is a basket woman, which is for all intents and purposes a western/Native American "youkai." Her power is manipulation of baskets, which she can use to grow or change any basket's form as well as using it to travel between various baskets or hide inside her own basket. She is a bit of an airhead and a loner who loves to collect clams along the northwestern coast of the United States. Her favorite places are the rocky, moody, gray beaches along the Olympic Peninsula as well as the thick moss-covered rainforests a short way's inland. She thinks the rumors about her eating children are ridiculous, because she often actually saves children from drowning; however, the children being so frightened of their near-death experiences, were sure they were going to be eaten by the monster woman, and so the rumors about her kind persist to this day.

>The Basket Ogress is a marauding giant common to the folklore of many Northwest Coast tribes. She catches humans, especially naughty or careless children, and carries them off in her enormous pack basket to eat them in her lair. Luckily she is rather dim-witted and her prey usually manages to escape. Essentially yes, I love native American mythology and cryptids and I've been wondering how they'd fit into the Touhou universe. I have some ideas for other girls: mothman, sasquatch, yeti, wendigo, skinwalker, goatman, chupacabra, etc. There are lots of silly but cool American cryptids and monsters that are youkai-adjacent. The idea of an American Gensokyo would be interesting, there very well could be different pockets of Gensokyo-like areas around the world existing as a last refuge for mythological creatures and monsters since the modern world is inhospitable for them.

Yeah, that's sadly just the nature of creating and sharing art on the internet. I do think that both tracks are rad though, so please do keep at it!

Testing using brush tool instead of felt pen, I think if I just use this for lines and use the pen for color, I may have a better style going, but I need to keep working at it. Also need to start bumping up the res.

I assist oil painting classes irl and whenever a class is over(3 hrs, more or less 2-2,5 hrs of painting) I fucking hate my painting. Then when I see it again next week (since paintings take several sessions) then it looks fine or even good.

My theory is that you get used to seeing the good parts, you get used to them, so they don't wow you anymore, while the mistakes are way more visible. Then when you take a break and your brain is refreshed from looking at it for a long time, you can appreciate the good parts again

In general, that's a question for a certified therapist. Could be fatigue and following loss of focus, which causes a shift in perception. Focusing on one thing for long takes energy and training. Try taking breaks. Or try making 30 minutes your new default, for starters.

It's also possible that you recognize (consciously or not) that at that point you've already realized your original vision for the drawing, and further additions don't increase the value of your work, maybe even the opposite. In this case, aim higher. Envision bigger things. Redo Botticelli's Venus in your style. Or some Bosch. That'll take some hours, I assume. Could be great for breaking the mold.

The vast majority of these were actually only made in the past month or so, ever since I made that Reimu I feel like been able to put a massive amount of freedom and fun into my drawings and made dozens on some days. It's a lot of trash, sure, but the nature of spinning the wheel more often ends up letting me have more nice stuff, too. Since then I've completely dropped using layers and filling areas in solid colors, I just pencil everything on a single layer and completely destroy my tablet.

Nice neeto, would say her head feels to big or her legs to short imo, but the hands and arms are looking good, not sure if the lines being softer on them would make them look better since hands tend to have a lot of lines/contrast so unless they're the focus or you want realism I would try to not define them too much... In animation they must be even tougher to draw.

Tried the 2hu gamejam that had retro as theme but 3 days for a game is fucking insane (still wasted most of my time doing a bunch of sprites I didn't even use).

She's probably my favorite, but I also like ME a lot. For me a lot of the appeal comes out of actually working IT, so I also get something out of fiddling with the old systems and trying to make them work for drawing. It's a fun challenge.
3.1 was still the hardest so far, but I figure maybe 95 will also give some trouble. ME and (probably 98) come with a lot of prepackaged stuff that I needed to manually install into DOS and stuff on 3.1, just as an example.
