Server / Guild Information:
1. There is only one server currently, and we are on the FEONIR faction. We are primarily on the PVP channel.
2. You must become a citizen of the nation before you can join a guild, this means you have to finish a quest that becomes available at level 10 in the main town.
3. Check the extended information on how the guild will be set up at the beginning of open beta.

Extended information on joining the guild in open beta:

- The guild will initially be capped at 24 members.
- Through guild quests, this cap can probably be extended to 48 members within a day, but then will take much longer to move to levels 3, 4, and finally 5.

- Due to the small cap at the beginning (24), guild invite priority will be given to people both familiar with and willing to do guild quests.
- For the newer players, we will most likely able to start taking members on the 2nd or 3rd day, when the guild reaches level 3.
- The jump from guild level 3 to level 4 is a tripling of the previous requirement, and likewise for the jump from level 4 to level 5. We didn't hit level 5 within the two weeks of closed betas.

- After you secure your character name, I need you to post your name in the current main thread for a guild invite (a simple "Name = blahblah" is fine).
- I will use these names to form a waiting list for guild invites.

- Note that you must be on the PVP channel to get an invite, you will show as offline if you are on PVE. There is more-or-less no danger to being on the PVP channel from L1-20.


Leveling up at the beginning of OB:

- The servers are, quite simply, going to be packed when they open.
- Grouping is by far the best way to level. Quest exp provides the majority of the exp you will get, and further, monster exp doesn't drop linearly with additional members.

- Because guild chat won't be available for most people at the beginning (and for no one while we get from level 1-10 to form the guild), you are encouraged to try and find a group using the IRC channel: #Hotglue@irc.rizon.net
- The IRC channel will be more-or-less be exclusively used as our private LFG channel for the first few days.
- As per concerns noted before: 1. You absolutely do not have to join the IRC to get a guild invite. 2. The IRC will only act as a substitute for unavailable guild chat during the first few days.

Yeah, I've considered a secondary guild. There are number of concerns I have about making one though, and I would simply prefer to try and get everyone into the main guild as quickly as possible.

I'm going to keep better track of who has gone inactive in the open beta than I did in the closed beta, which should let us get everyone into the guild within a couple days to a week.

I'll see how it goes over the first day and maybe we'll get an alt/secondary guild up after a few days if it looks like we won't be able to fit everyone within a decent time frame.

Do DGs have a weakness, then? I'd imagine that everyone else rolling a DG would be fucking annoying if I tried to roll a Rifleman. I don't like the thought of working on a character and then finding out it's absolutely useless because everyone can one-hit me, nor do I like the thought of pretty much being forced to roll a DG just to be of any use in PvP.

tinker with this some, threat generating abilities are great for dungeons and PvE general, but pretty useless in PvP (though a tiny bit of focus in pvp helps for guards). Defense increasing skills are good in pvp and pve, but shine the best in pvp when you can tank 3-4 people at once.

For specifics you'd have to talk to someone who ran a pally in the CBs though

After reading the "general information" at the beginning of this thread, I feel too intimidated to start.

So, can I ask for a roundaround of the classes? I'm still deciding.

Gunners for long range DPS, Glass cannons, good as dead if singled.
Dual Gunners for short range DPS. Glass cannons with nice evade. Range sucks tho.
Cleric: Priests. Low HP, High DEF. You can heal and get parties easily. Can't level alone.
Paladin: High DEF. Low ATK. Tank: must party with DPS to level up but is on the first line of defense in PvPs.

So, what's up with the other classes? Did I get something wrong? I've never played this game, mind you, just repeating what I read.

They are good in the fact that they can outlast other classes in a PVP fight. Your damage is so low that you won't really be killing anyone if they don't want to bother with you and instead opt to go for high priority targets instead, like clerics or warlocks.

Paladins are just there for support, like stunning people so the DPS can kill or just annoying people so they run away since it takes 6 years to kill a Paladin in a 1v1.

Clerics can level alone quite fine. Angelic Armor, get a mob, Signet, Tempest Tempest Tempest Tempest.

If you can get into a party AoE is the fastest way of killing/completing quests. Usually the Paladin drags a bunch of stuff and everyone AoEs them to death.

You just need full lightning orb for bosses. Most pulls are 2-3+ so you can still use Shadow fall for damage against them. Most cleric/DG/warrior/paladin parties outside of dungeons round up a lot of enemies then aoe them down past level 30.

As a paladin, I found the easiest targets to kill were riflemen. I could usually down one before they could get away.
In mass PVP though, just run in, silence people, stun someone and hope a DPS comes to finish it off. Paladins are pretty good at pushing lines because they can run relatively deeply into enemy lines without dying due to Divine Ward.

I'm not quite sure which class I want to be in open beta.

I was a paladin for closed beta and I loved the survivability and self heals, but I am thinking of trying Warrior or Rifleman. Warrior isn't really....appealing? ever since I played Aion Gladiator but I've always liked two handed swords and the buffs, and well.. the George Nakata. Rifleman is just tempting because of mass pvp and dungeons with aoe damage to make it easier on healers, basically just ranged dps choice.

If I had to put a percentage on each, it would be 45% Paladin, 40% Rifleman, 15% Warrior.

Nah, I wouldn't say very well at all. The main warlock AoE is DoT that requires continuous casting and it gets to be very susceptible to being interrupted when you start taking hits from 2+ mobs. There's also the other aoe which explodes after enemy drops to under 20% hp (which you can cast on multiple enemies), but is really tricky to use effectively and definitely takes more time to set up right.

Moral of the story is - you definitely want to party for group mobs. Else, it's less frustrating and cheaper to just rely on your single target skills.
