I don't really hate any of the others. A lot of people don't seem to like the Mountain of Faith characters. Not sure why. I don't see what's wrong with them. People complain that they have no personalities. But the thing is, NONE OF THE TOUHOU CHARACTERS HAVE PERSONALITIES. The fans CREATE the depth for the characters.
Let's look at the MoF characters;
The sisters from Stage 1: Eh. Just like all the other stage 1 characters, they will be mostly forgotten.
Hina: Stage 2 Squad. Potential Alice connections.
Nitori: Has some popularity already.
Momozi: Already seems to be popular, thanks to connections to Aya.
Sanae, Kanako and Suwako: Ok, let's see here. Sanae I've often seen with somewhat of a "motherly" vibe to her. A sort of watchful distance sort of thing. The attached picture sums it up well. Kanako has somewhat of a "snobbish but not-a-bad-person" thing going. http://youtube.com/watch?v=KtevyQWjHz0 has a good implementation of this. She teases Suwako, but comes and finds her in the rain anyway. Suwako's pretty much just... concentrated cute. I see good potential in a doujin where her hat flies up to Cirno, tentacles come out of it and snare Cirno's arms and legs, and then Suwako walks in and proceeds to rape Cirno like mad for torturing her frog friends.

In the end, the amount that people like the MoF characters, is linked to what the doujin artists want to do with them.

For reasons that she's overplayed yet has litrlke going for her. Alice has become a vehicle of her obsessions - as a fanon character (since she hasn't been canonically seen since IaMP) - and there aren't many of those left. It's either obsess about Marisa or be moody and depressed. She hasn't been seen on her search for an independent doll since forever, and completely forgotten was her tendency for rating her opponents based on the number of clothing colors (as opposed to, for example, Patchouli's cat-ness rating). The retcon devastated whatever background material and created some kind of "assumed history" in which she met Marisa and Reimu.
Even the doujinshi fanon has a difficult time giving her fresh things to do.

Either revoke the retcon or retool her character. Otherwise, she's just becoming a forgettable one-act show.
