SSiB made it look like the whole moon army is made of two bitches and a dozen of rabbits.

Most people dropped it when they came into the equation, that first impression I believe influences this dislike of them.

Personally, I enjoyed SSiB.

I'm pretty sure it's stated somewhere in the SSiB chapters. The Lunar Capital is to the rest of the moon as Gensokyo is to Earth, and that no rocket could ever locate it.

Also, it was the moonpeople who decided to declare war on them first, not the SPACE MEHREENS, so there was no element of surprise on their part. Yorihime also mentioned that not many of the rabbits who partook in the last war survived.

Yukari is god tier compared to other youkai but like all youkai she's weak to spiritual/faith attacks. (It's their kryptonite.) The Watatsuki sisters in particular are god tier in terms of spiritual/faith/purity attacks. Even better than Reimu and Sanae. A youkai wouldn't stand a chance against them. Also, contrary to popular belief the youkai of gensokyo are not on par with the shinto/buddha gods of the Touhouverse. Kanako and Suwako are indeed stronger than Yukari (despite the fact that Yukari has a few abilities that are on par with theirs). In the same way that Yorihime used the power of the gods to defeat Remilia, Sakuya, Marisa, and Reimu with ease, Reimu used the power of the gods to defeat the various youkai in the game's danmaku battles.

I don't know about SSiB, but I just played Imperishable Night and Eirin outright says that, in the game itself (Yuyuko/Youmu route, ending A IIRC). Moontown is hidden from the real moon the exact same way Gensokyo is hidden from the real Earth.
