Even then, there's something about this case that fascinates me. The guy is clearly a nasty piece of work. His whole campaign was about stopping the project over "environmental concerns", but the new line only goes through shizuoka for like 5 km, yet that is enough to delay the project over 5 years. My guess is that he is mad because the line doesn't stop at shizuoka. Even then, the guy stops all kind of projects and developments, people online theorize that he just wants japan to fall further behind other countries like china. He received a lot of criticism for his latest gaffe where he called farmers and artisans "people with no brains" and "unintellectual", but he's been saying similar things for over a decade. Even if he truly resigns, he will get a massive pension, which he promised not to get.
