if your parents offered to get you a yukkuri for your birthday what breed would you ask for?

pros & cons, for consideration:
-Reimu/Marisa
+ the most affordable breeds due to their ubiquity, you may end up with one regardless of preference if your family is poor
- lack of prestige in consequence of the above
- kleptomania in case of the latter
-Cirno
+ free refrigeration, simply lock them in the cupboard with the food (must be gagged to prevent it being eaten)
+ can be made to produce ice cream by feeding them milk and sugar, vigourously shaking them, then squeezing them
- cold condensation can damage your walls
-Rumia
+ effective rodent pesticide
- must wear shoes indoors to prevent loss of toes
-Meiling
+ chinese lessons
- may insist on being used as a home security system in place of burglar alarms or upgraded locks; very ineffective at preventing break-ins
-Patchouli
+ can readily be taught to perform simple to semi-complex tasks due to high intelligence, may easily be motivated to do so through promising them books
+ the only breed that can reliably be taught to read and write, may then be brought in to your job to assist with paperwork, can also write and send computer emails with a special input device
- if not yet literate may instead satisfy their book obsession by chewing on them
-Sakuya
+ housekeeping
- will only follow orders if you give them while dressed in remilia cosplay
-Remilia/Flandre
+ ability to fly is useful in some circumstances, eg if snowed in and conventional communications are down they may be used as carrier pigeons to contact rescue services
- aristocratic pride causes difficulty in training
- blood loss

I choose (Ku)rumimi.

it would be nice to have yukki fly (more or less) around, so maybe remi/flan. but i like the classic reimu/marisa and patchy looks comfy... oh there's also the ran/chen combo, very cute and nice. there's no bad yukkuri, maybe a surprise is for the best.

Definitely Patchouli, and I'd spoil and pamper and cuddle her.

-Ran and Chen
+ soft and can double as a pillow and sleep aid respectively
+ Ran is capable of housekeeping
+ Chen is very cute
- cannot be bought separately
- tails require your help to maintain
- Chen isn't very reliable and gets into trouble more often than not

-Yukari
+ easy to maintain
+- doesn't do a whole lot
- snores

Kaguya. Maybe Ran and Chen too.

Damn, how embarrassing would it be to have to explain you're missing digits because of a yukkuri attack.

depends on if how big they are. if they're like knee-height i wouldn't bother getting a little reimu or marisa. But if they're very tiny i'd get the entire SDM team for their multipurpose and feeling bad for leaving them without each other

Patchouli sounds so much better than the others. Are you sure you aren't misrepresenting the Marisa yukkuri? Surely they are also very prone to literacy?

you would think so, but from the depictions we have of her it's clear the only use yukkuri marisa has for books is to make nests for napping in from the pages
it's not understood why the degree to which yukkuri share the behavioural characteristics of their likenesses differs between breeds, perhaps in marisa's magical essence the desire for learning is a somehow recessive trait and thus overpowered by the yukkuri desire for taking it easy, while it's dominant in patchouli's and so still manifests?

I think we need to start a Marisa-Patchouli breeding program.
