what's the deal with this? I've not gotten particularly close to kagerou on this playthrough but it happened in a previous playthrough too. it happens when you try and do the conversation command, she runs away, then appears again immediately and runs away again, and then you talk to someone else in the area and she instantly appears as if she was never gone. I don't even understand the trigger for it, because I've seen it happen at low and high favour

She is no fool and can see the writing on wall based on Kan's intentions, whether or not those actions on her part are justified or not are irrelevant, as Kagerou is a bit more special than other werewolf of her kind which currently don't exist.
Kagerou in particular is, in simple terms, a nervous rack. She understand that being the last of her kind puts her on a very precarious situation where her urges are knocking on the back of her head quite frequently and strongly, however as we have discussed before her inclinations towards chastity and pregnancy are exceptional meaning that at this very moment she is going through quite a dilemma.
With the prying eyes of males like Kan around her and as her urges and inclinations begin to take control of her as her body prepares itself to enter the most fertile part of a woman's menstrual cycle, Kagerou comes to the conclusion that the most adequate solution to her dilemma is to simply flee and maintain herself hidden until the urges naturally subdue themselves once more so that she can return to her normal life.
As such, it is evident here that engaging with this werewolf into a mating process will not come easily as it will require that males like Kan display an exceptional amount of devotion, confidence and commitment to getting closer to her in order for her to pass through the immense mental hurdle that is accepting a male into her life. Perhaps, conquering her love would suffice to gaining her acceptance.

It depends on the sort of gameplay you're looking for. Not including TW and Megaten, there are a bunch of era games that are enjoyable to (Me), but a good portion of them are unfortunately either dead or have abysmally slow update speeds that they might as well be dead.

If you're after the traditional 'era' experience but don't want specifically 2hus, there's eraInSchool. It's your traditional 'get x money by y days' deal, but has probably the largest character roster of all eras at this stage, though most of them with no dialogue. If a game or (especially) anime/manga character has a school as a setting, they're most likely in there. Mostly females but there's also a few male characters around as well.

If eraInSchool is too 'simple' for you, there's eraBEMANI. Same deal, but with more varied 'gameplay', even unlimited waifu/husbando mode if you just want the end goal fast with no time limits. Features BEMANI characters, male and female, of course.

There's eraAS, which is kind of like a city defender kind of era, where (You), one of the Alpha Players of the City train a bunch of characters to do stuff, including exploring and fighting off invasions. eraAS is probably the origin of where the pixel characters you see in MakaiRanch and the Lamoli mod variants.

There's MakaiRanch, where the entire idea is you turn adventurers of various races that invade hell into, eventually (though optional), livestock for their breast milk. Apparently they contain powers that Makai folk can drink to get stronger or something.

If you want more newer but active stuff, there's eraFL and eraBlue_Resort, I suppose. eraFL is an actual original work that looks promising, while eraBlue_Resort is (You) running a resort for Granblue characters. There's also eraOCG2, which is pretty much Yu-gi-oh but in era.

If you want to go further back, there's stuff like eraSQN. Prequel project of the dev for AkumaMaid, I personally prefer it much more than AkumaMaid. Some of the races are definitely waifu material.

As for stuff that's pretty much dead forever but had good ideas to poke around with, there's stuff like eraJK, which is TW styled but in 'real life', and eraKami, which is half traditional style (get x faith in y years) but you train up mikos to run the shrine and later uplift them into the heavenly realms or something.

Then there's the interesting ones like eraRorona, which is apparently a lewd take on Atelier Rorona where you train Homs the era way while doing synthesis and such.

When you're pushdown and the girls frustration reaches 0%, you're given the option to slip out/push her down instead/get raped until you're unconscious. Still pretty rough, to be honest. It's kind of structured in a similar way to TW, in that you can 'move around' your resort using the map and there is a concept of time, but that's mostly for the purpose of befriending (and banging) the Granblue characters (mostly the girls at this stage) that visit your resort. Something about if you get friendly enough with them while they're at your resort, you can have them help explore/clear dungeons for you. But in terms of development it's still pretty early; the devs seem more focused on adding more sex positions and playing around with AI art right now to use as in-game portraits for the characters.

Speaking of AI art stuff, eraH recently had a design shift of a sort that's still in progress, but it's supposed to function differently from 'old eraH'. For example, instead of using straight out TohoA mechanics of 'buy slave, train to fall, do stuff', they're shifting towards the alternate way of 'summoning outsiders into your hotel', in that they're stuck working for your hotel and all but you have to befriend and get consent from them first before you can bang away at them, kind of using TohoK's interaction system but different. Otherwise they seem to be looking at expanding the whole 'hotel management' thing, where the concept of running electricity and food is actually important enough that the game states that 'running out of supplies leads to a gameover'. But that part is still not working properly. Also you start with Ringo and Figue for some reason. Also somehow you're an independent Dark Summoner that was able to turn your hotel into a magic fortress in the sense of while doing combat in your hotel, you can become some level 50 spatial manipulation magic meister. The 'tutorial' about it is supposed to have you do this to win, or else you have level 5's fighting against a full level 26 party that turned up at your hotel. Also has a bunch of non-megaten characters in it now, including Chisato and Takina from Lycoris Recoil for some reason.

It's entirely deliberate.
Marriage is designed from the ground to be a definite and irrevocable decision leading to the ultimate progression of a relationship. Typical "love of one's life"/"'til death do us part (or even beyond)" stuff. It's meant to be a very weighty choice about who the player loves above all without any room for take-backs.
The game is also designed as one where relationships never actually go backwards. There's no need to maintain a relationship, nor will any of them (barring unique stuff in their dialogue) ever grow bitter and come to resent the player. Divorce or a loveless marriage just doesn't fit in. The worst that can happen in the game is a hate mark or two, but that's both easily fixed and very difficult to even obtain when you're in a late-stage, deep relationship.
I think that's already a weakness with the existing lover breakup system, since even afterwards, the character involved still loves the player just as much as before and acts as if nothing happened, unless they're very specifically scripted for it, which basically nobody but you does. It makes it feel rather lacking in impact. I want marriage to carry significant weight and be more than just a box to mark off on a character, so the experience should feel consistent and coherent as much as possible.

Currently starting NG+ in the Netherworld and I can't figure out where to drag the girls to go study. I know I can just take them on a date to somewhere with a library but it just feels weird for a location with a few A and S rank knowledge Youkai to not have a place of study.
