The thing is, that's what people want. Viewers don't want unique drawings with cool or new ideas, they want the same slop served to them again and again. That's why skilled artists that draw the same drawing 800 times have such big followings. But you know, as long as you're having fun with your art, it really doesn't matter what you draw imo. Draw slop, draw characters standing in a white void, or draw a crazy detailed unique piece. Whatever. As long as you enjoy yourself while you do it and feel accomplished when you're done, that's all that truly matters. I feel the same as >>45881137, I make art for my own satisfaction.

Twitter is by all means the worst platform to archive your works.
Anything above 900x900 res will be compressed to shit.
Anything that doesn't appeal to the normie legion will obliterate your gallery anyways.
It's not even good for exposure as it's most often than not destructive thanks to the hoards of tranny cultists burning down anything sane.
Make Pixiv instead, and link uncensored stuff from catbox or something. Try to speak little to no English.
This is the only decent option unless you wanna freelance. In that case.. good luck.

>>45933630
Uhh im no expert, I don't want to give bad advice , but for the elbow, depending on the angle, you may see the contour of the elbow bones, so you add a slightly square-ish bump there in the contour. It doesn't needs to be perfect but it helps to study sculptures, anime figures, etc to see how the outline should work more or less. Also the elbow has a particular form that makes a shadow in the skin so it helps to make a small mark to show that shadow, if the viewer sees part of the elbow pointing towards them and not just its contour.

The knees are a bit of a mystery to me still. They often points towards the viewer and when they do I use two markings to indicate that, since just like the elbow, their particular roundish shape casts a shadow. When the leg is slightly to the side I use contour + 1 marking to indicate position. Sometimes even no shadow just contour. Depends on where the knee is pointing really. Knees and elbows are similar in that depending on the viewers angle, you should use either contour to show the bone structure, shadow to show their position inside the contour of the figure, or both.

Once again I am not an expert, I'm just winging it. But thats more or less the logic.

Also, PS3 is the first one with the layer function so I had to go through this entire picture manually with no shortcuts. Kind of tedious, but fun.
Something I also didn't realize until now is that the modern computer renders the colors completely differently. DOS/Win 3.1 can't show solid colors and instead relies on pixel combinations from its limited color palette. Makes the experience very weird when you're working through stuff in detail.

I made an english cover of Japan Break Industries last thread ( >>45846114 ), so I have a bit of insight despite being new to mixing my own stuff.
They definitely sound "buried in the mix", but there's a few ways you can alleviate this if you know what to get/look for.
I personally would recommend using the Trackspacer plugin (and if you're using REAPER or something, make sure to learn how2sidechain the different tracks so it actually works) cause it will automatically cut out a section of the linked instrumental's volume with your adjustments.
Secondly, I'd try to find a way to "maximize" or increase the "loudness" of the vocals so that they don't dip in volume at any point. Once they're equal, you can then manually modify them with an "envelope" or something similar to be loud/quiet when they need to be.
If you need the torrents for the plugins I use, I have the stuff I use for REAPER in a catbox here: https://files.catbox.moe/v7xxn5.zip
Though, I originally pulled them from RuTracker.

I should mention that, for maximizing/loudness, I really recommend trying the Ozone plugin's maximizer. Since I'm kind of inexperienced, I just put a maximizer first on the vocal track and then on the full vocal/instrumental stack/ontop of everything.
That way the vocals and their FX are amplified, and then you can also minimize the ability for the mix to peak... sort of. I definiely should experiment more, but first my cold needs to be over with.

Thank you, and nice cover, gave me a laugh.
I don't use REAPER (I use FL 21) but thank you for the plugins, I'm definitely going to use Trackspacer in my mix and maximise it. Fiddling with the EQ is my weakest point and something that I've completely neglected to study but I'm hoping to be able to get by with the plugins filling in for my weaker spots... maybe.
Your cover sounded really good, though, both mixing-wise and in general. Thanks again.

Thanks, I don't get much time to sing or real vocal practice so it's nice that it's not completely botched.
All the IzoTope plugins come with a lot of nifty features, but they also have a ton of presets that can help you along.
Of course, you can also manually add EQ within them and such, so you can learn from the presets as to what can help get you different sounds.
I have a pretty strong rig for running this stuff, but if you don't, don't forget to render your audio with FX so it doesn't constantly need to turn the raw sound into the better sound even when you know it's good.
Melodyne is really powerful for mucking with vocal timings, so if you want to fix small stuff or even autotune things it's good. I'm not using it right now tho, maybe next time if I'll cover Eurobeat or something.

>Nectar
Mostly meant for vocals and vocal processing. Want your stuff to soubd like it's behind a wall or more like an audiobook? This is your plugin.
>Neutron
Something better fit for mucking with the general sound of a stem. This should help you with primarily with your instruments, but it does have a few presets for vocals too.
>Ozone
A mastering plugin. It and its features are really good for getting a "final touch" on things, but if your stems aren't fixed up by other stuff it's mostly just changing how loud it is.

As for the rest, VocalSynth is probably the coolest plugin since you can make all sorts of weird stuff happen to vox that you put in.

While Xitter does change the image's internal workings even in the name=orig resolution whereas Pixiv preserves the original state, a 1920x1080 .jpg MMD render with a noise effect is visually indistinguishable from the source to the point WinMerge calls them identical, which is not the case for slightly compressed CSP exports. If you have a decent monitor, though, you can zoom in and switch between images to notice a miniscule difference in brightness or tint, though that could in theory be an illusion.

i tend to lab using other artist's stuff as references, then once I've done it enough to remember I sometimes visit the sketches/drawings I liked best to "cement it" in my style or something like that
then for posing you can just reference an actual 3d model or IRL pose.

If you can visualize an apple you can visualize a pose, what you lack is the information. Apples are much more simple and you've see then more than people posing. I drew the crow tengu Aya Shameimaru laying eggs. https://files.catbox.moe/3cuo3i.png
I'm not familiar with using catbox or 4chan so I hope I got it right. I'm uploading it here due to recommendation of an anon on the NEET thread.

I drew this because I saw some people online seem to jokingly request it, and I wanted to see how they'd react. They seemed to genuinely like it and followed me for a while, but later ended up blocking me once I got too annoying for them. This made me mad.

I put quite a lot of thought into this piece. Most people would expect this to be nothing but voyeuristic, so I tried to make it more tender instead. I'm not sure I succeeded. I put Rikako here as well, since Aya looked lonely going through the pain of egg-laying alone and Rikako made sense as she could be a midwife. Most of the other crow tengu hate Aya so it wouldn't make sense to put them it. I spent quite a while thinking about what to put on the headboard of the bed. I thought about having things related to the four seasons since Aya carries a big autumn leaf but it didn't work out since I'm not very familiar with drawing trees. I ended making things related to a god of the wind since Aya's theme is wind god girl: the feathered serpent Quetzalcoatl, his wind jewel, and some wind.

Draw what you like, apply a critical eye to what you draw, and try to improve too over your previous drawings. Don't be afraid of failure. Of being told "this and this and this looks like shit". Some anons here draw the same thing over and over and over because it's their comfort zone and never push themselves further. If you just draw to relax that's perfectly fine, but if you want to improve you need to push yourself

Don't compare yourselves to others, compare yourselves to the you from a month before, from a year before, and if you don't notice an improvement, try changing how you learn stuff. We can all make it. No one here is Chris chan levels retarded.

AI is very good at coloring but it's still way too nonsensical in its basic composition. Even da cream of da crop AI generations still have a crap ton of tells, there is always random lines and bits and pieces that make no sense. Usually it's in the finer details like the background, clothing folds, etc. So even if it gets the hands and face 100% right, there will always be something else wrong with the image. The fat AI Yukari in the hag thread OP is a good example, at first glance the image looks normal but if you actually look at the details it's just another fucked up looking AI image.

I think that what works best is to just focus on what you want to draw in particular for starters, fundamentals help but if those practices bore or annoy you they might be counterproductive.
Anatomy/proportions depend on artstyle, pc98 ZUNstyle is peak fuck anatomy for example. And heck if you look at real people you'll see that proportions vary, doing them aprox is usually enough as long as you don't have internal inconsistency like one arm being longer.

anyone do animations or have any animations to post?

>> No.46076668

Can I confess here a sin?
The more I know about drawing, the more I want to follow non-Touhou artists (and boobs) and the less I follow Touhou artists.
Even for Touhou artists, unless they draw really interesting style (and boobs) I would unfollow them.
It seems to me that Touhou arts had become stagnant and generic, spoiled by anime style of Tasforo and Manpukujinya, reinforced by waves of gacha. Ever since Moe Harukawa, Touhou scene no longer produce great artstyle.

>> No.46076769

>>46076668
On the contrary I think there's a greater variance of styles by Touhou artists than pretty much any "anime style" scene, especially the gacha one.

>> No.46077198

>>46076769
Of course in quantity alone, Touhou would have greater variance compare to other, for example Fate. I think I still can count more than 100 artists with really unique style and great skill.
The problem is that other franchise had very good "official" style to begin with, so they really outperform other low level entry Touhou artist with Lostword style. And not to mention OCs. I swear the best artist I ever see out there are all drawing their OCs.

>> No.46077254

>>46076668
>>46077198
I think this is a bad opinion. Most of the gacha out there have fanart that's incredibly similar to the original style to the point where it all looks the same. In contrast, the original style in Touhou is so bad(sorry SOVL enjoyers) that any interpretation you come up with will be better than the original. Then you get WAY more differences in artstyle and quality among the art pool for the series since people are not encouraged to look close to the original. Sure the official manga gave some floor to Touhou art too, but even then it's still very varied

If what you like is generic gacha art with well rendered boobs, then I unironically think Touhou is not the series for you. There will be great artist drawing titties sure, but also way more variety overall. You like what you like, after all. Be honest with yourself and realize what's what you truly like

By not giving a fuck about social media clout in the first place. It's only sad for you because that's your motivation and how YOU value things intrinsically. "This has more likes, it's more popular, so it should be better"

>I know that men don't give a fuck about art that doesn't help them masturbate, but god damn.
That's quite a mean and generalizing comment considering
1) Most of those old beautiful paintings of landscapes were drawn by men.
2) Women produce and consume a lot of shitty coom content too.

That super good artist you see probably sees harvesting social media views and likes, as a complete waste of time. Why should he do that when he can just go draw and paint? Social media is a huge gains goblin but some people only see value in art when it provides them with likes and views and seeing number go up, instead of the quality and self-improvement and realization that comes along with art gains.

Your motivations don't have to be pure, but also don't think other people should value the same things as you.

Oh, whatever, stop being so fragile. You know it's true that men consume coom content more than women, and you damn well know that the only reason old masterpieces were painted by men is because women weren't really allowed to paint. Go read Arte. It just makes me feel sad for artists who work hard and paint beautiful works but get no engagement, you don't need to insinuate anything about me just because I'm commenting on it.

See this is what I mean. All you are seeing is that the prize, the big endgame, is "number go up". When people that don't engage in social media shenanigans and pandering don't even care about that. They don't want recognition and it means nothing to them.

On the other side you have the grifters that just draw FotM coom and don't have a single original thought in their head. To them the whole endgame is maximizing followers and likes, and drawing decently is just another thing they must do to attain that. They see the other guy as wasted talent. Why draw so good if he's barely going to nurture his social media engagement?

Most people fall in the middle of both these extremes. They want to draw the things they like and want to improve, but they also want more people to see it, and also think likes feel good, so they reach a middle point of drawing what they like but also pandering a bit.

I see what you both mean, but those kind of super good artist that have almost no social media following have completely different values to most people. I don't pity them. I admire them. If only I could be like that too and dedicate myself purely for the sake of art and not external validation

you need to learn some basic anatomy, theres tons of videos of people doing something similar to what youa re doing and turning these mannequins into good drawings but they already know their shit, in your case it's obvious you are lacking anatomy, so go study that you are gonna be guessing how shit should look rather than going straigh to it, once you know your anatomy or whaever even a fucking scribble is enough to use as a base, your brain will fill the gaps later, in this case it cant, because you lack the information that's why it looks off but yet you don't know why.

i wouldn't be doing these dolls as a base they are good for practice to study basic forms but you need to study anatomy and using these basic forms to construct sopmething more detailed, the more you practice the less you will relay on it, til you will only need some basic bitch doodle as a sketch for your final lineart.

Look for pictures online until you find an arm roughly in the same pose.
I have a poser program I sometimes use if I get confused. I also taught myself a general rule that each arm starts wider than it begins (sort of), so you can basically draw an arm's "outline" by making 4 different lines and brute forcing it from there instead of making a joint right away.

Thanks for saying so, I have some latent natural talent for sure but it's not much compared to Japs. This ability is an accumulation of thousands of hours of on-and-off practice. In middle school when I began drawing, I would exclusively copy anime art I liked and re-draw it by looking at it, and continued that habit all throughout high school until I gained the ability to draw on my own. I've never once drawn an old man or a base. Here's a drawing from eighth grade.

>> No.46113116

They seem to be more concerned with whether or not the picture looks appealing, instead of focusing on realistic anatomy. They also seem to be of the opinion that you should learn to draw what you want, and not draw realistic men when you want to learn how to draw anime girls.
For example, I've seen them talking about how long and sharp the chin should be based on whether you're drawing an ikemen, girl or a chibi character; Making a girl's legs longer than they are irl will make her look better; How big the head should be compared to the body depending on how old you want your character to look; If you're looking at real life references for specific parts (e.g. hands), don't draw them too realistic or it'll clash with the rest of the picture.
They also give different advices for depending on whether your drawings are realistic or manga style. They also teach how to draw mannequins and dividing the body in cubes, but they never say it's required, they just say it's a technique that can help you.
There's also a lot of stuff like how to make your lines look good, shading, coloring eyes, etc.

it depends a lot on your goals, do you want to get gud faster well you gotta grind lots of stuff and how much and for how long will be up to you.
For example in the left pic its your averague beginner for most people this isn't that bad and even some might say it's very good, on the Right you have something that it's indisputable very good, can the right drawing be only achievable by grinding 24/7 books and whatnot, nope you can get at that level without ever reading a book, tutorial or something of that matter but the time it will take you could be years.

So when a begginner usually asks how do i get gud like ''x'' , i think the proper answer or direction would be what it's their goal and time frame to achieve it, drawing for imagination will take years without studying the source of your subject, but it would be way shorter if you study them and even shorter in you dedicate your time solely to do that.
Theres ton's of ways to learn how to draw, referencing, tracing, copying, stdying from books or just drawing. But the time and results will vary between them.

Just draw but just as importantly learn how to improve/analyse and what to work on. Alot of mistakes beginners make can easily be fixed when you just look over at it and go "what look's off and why does it look off." The harder stuff is when you deviate towards stylism and have to bend the line of what looks off.

I copy their style to a tee, and then add it to mine.

Golden dawn chan...
Nice design but the lines aren't sharp enough in some places like the face to get the ZUN art feeling.

Hm, it's a decent attempt but no one would notice that it's ZUN style without you telling them it is. I would say 5/10, you're like halfway there; get it to the point where people will know what you're trying to do without them being told through tags or the description.

I decided to edit your drawing a little to show you how to make it more ZUNy. I'm not an expert on ZUN style, but I have been trying to learn it recently. Hopefully you can see what I did here. My tips: curlier hair, bigger head (his style is VERY chibi adjacent), no thick eyebrows, eyes wider apart, blush, and use a smaller pen for the facial features.

I see what you mean. I think it's because I blocked in the colors before adding the lineart/shading, and ended up leaving the face as it was, which isn't very ZUNish.
Is this a little better?
>>46121901
The eyebrows and the dark circles were an intentional choice (considering who she's based on) but your other tips are on point (and you're right, I didn't do a very good job cleaning up.)

I understand, however ZUN doesn't draw thick eyebrows or eyebags. You have to conform to how he does things if you want it to have a more ZUNy feel. Then you can just draw her normally when you aren't doing his style.

there's nothing terrible about it, it's fine, it could be better for sure but it's not super bad.

decided to try and brute force it until it looked "passable". also did it black and white because it was mostly a practice drawing. but still did some shading though. also the "3" mouth has become a bit of a clutch for me because i kinda suck at drawing regular mouths lol

Chkn God wip based on a photo of a really cool Japanese rooster I found
I've never done anything with any significant amount of trees/plants, so it's been fun figuring this out

Ooooh, this one looks neat. I'll have to look up Japanese roosters now. I've been getting into drawing backgrounds lately and it is SO much fun. They take extra time to do, sure, but it's worth it.

Looks good to me! Black and white is always a great choice. And I love the 3 mouth. Classic moeblob cutie mouth. I always draw it on my husband when I draw him.
