I can't tell whether this VN is taking the piss or not. Playing the exact same line 26 times in a row is a joke, it's a shitpost, it has to be a gag, there's absolutely no way they could expect me to take this scene seriously, and yet that's exactly what they do. It's played completely straight for drama. I have absolutely no idea whether the writers expect me to take this seriously or they're just too good at deadpan delivery.

Random thoughts on new Ouju no Shima info.
I thought the game was going to take place on some remote island near Okinawa because of the music in the PV, but rewatching it now, the imagery does align more with classical Japanese folklore and Buddhism than that of the Ryukyu kingdom. Higa is an Okinawan surname though (albeit the character who has it uses different kanji), so maybe there might be some connection made in the story.
It's far from the first time Japanese mysticism and curses are being used as a central theme in eroge (there's a decent amout of miko and onmyouji stuff) but it's the first time I've seen 呪術 specifically being used as THE key word. Maybe they're riding on the recent popularity a bit?
I can't really imagine any islands in the Seto Inland Sea being particularly isolated since they'd be sandwiched between Honshu and Shikoku but I guess I'd need to visit to find out. Some pictures look really comfy when the sun's out.
Initial heroine preferences: Demure > Prostitute > Mesugaki > Assassin
Cautiously optimistic.

Done with the trial, so a few thoughts
>racism bad
>war bad
I can kind of see what the plot is going to be, and I'm not very interested in it. ost is a bit better than Sousaku. The lip sync isn't that well synchronized. Sofia seems like the most interesting of the bunch. I prefer Alpha's design over the new guy, but sadly he only did vamps, and there are only like 4 of them out of 20 characters. I will settle for him doing the poster girl, I guess... The VN is supposed to be winter-themed, but some backgrounds don't have any snow, for whatever reason.
Will read the whole game when it's released, seems like I will like it more than Jehewa.

Heroine POV chapters are not in the main game and should be read before anything else.
Shuusuke and Hayato chapters are in the main game and the content is mostly the same, but there are some minor changes: main game changes the VA for one character and adds new BGM, so it's better to play them in the main game.
Karuo chapter is not in the main game, and unlocks after you play everything else in Prelude, but it assumes familiarity with the characters introduced in the Shuusuke and Hayato chapters.

Optimal read order: heroine chapters (Prelude) -> main game, then at some point during the Hayato chapter (specifically, after Naru gets introduced) go back to Prelude, skip the Shuusuke and Hayato parts and read the Karuo chapter, then continue the main game normally.

I'm not sure since when this issue appeared, but it will just randomly go out of scaling mode when alt-tabbing, and after that when you try to alt-tab it tabs to the game instead, so in short you basically have to click alt-tab 2 times all the time.
Reopening the game fixes the issue but then it will appear again at some point.

MC lives in an apartment complex. He meets the girls (all JS and JC of course) in the elevator/stairwell, trash collection, in the corridors and on the way to the konbini. Deep down he's a good guy so they get attached to him and want to help him. But of course they have no idea how messed up he is so once they fall for him it's too late and his degeneracy leads them into fucked up sex.

In short, why are there no moege in multi-level apartment complexes? It's all in old nukige. I don't want dorm shit, it's not the same.

Kobo Abe's books are weird to put it lightly, The ruined map has a very interesting way of telling it's story, almost as if the author goes out of his way to disorient you, a scene might show up in the middle of a conversation without any previous notice, or the main character starts describing some weird hallucination or some surreal impression he starts having about someone mid sentence. his most famous book is

R.U.R.U.R.U is fantastic, but my number one piece of advice is go in knowing as little as possible about it and try not to read any descriptions as they spoil the first major twist. A big part of what made the VN so enjoyable is that it's one of those VNs that throws you into a completely insane situation where a bunch of seemingly nonsensical stuff happens and you have to piece together what's going on, and every summary I've ever seen just outright tells you.
Also while I do think it has some great fight scenes I wouldn't say they're the focus.

I had this exact problem with a game I recently played, Casablanca no Tsubomi. I was drawn in from reading EGS reviews talking about how crazy that game was but I was underwhelmed by it. Then I realized it was probably because most people came into the game not expecting much and then got blown away by the twist. The problem with that game is that the twist is all there is to it, everything outside of it is pretty boring.

I'm playing the unravel trigger trial and I'm not far yet and already the game seems weird. I get suspension of disbelief and all but it feels off when you can feel the writer behind the characters if that makes sense. The MC and main heroine go for a walk and already they see two guys beating up a child and a woman trying to kill herself. And it feels like the only reason these scenes exist is for characterization purposes.

Idk how to explain the weirdness of it but it just feels 'off', like you can sense the writer going, "i'm going to write X scene for X purpose".

You mean you wasted your time on deliberately "studying" English with boring classes/textbooks instead of reading/listening to natural English? Well, we can tell that by how good your English is.
No wonder you think learning Japanese is a herculean task rather than just reading interesting things and thus getting better at it.

>Why people think that everyone is sitting on their ass all the time and have nothing to do
The problem comes from the following mindset:
>"I want to play this niche japanese game because I (presumably) like similar japanese things."
>"Why is the game not in English, the most spoken language in the world?!"
>"No, I'm not going to spend my time learning the language for the thing I like, because I think it's them who should be translating the game into MY language!"

A translated game's text will never be as good and nuanced as the original.
Not that EOPs would care, of course. If they cared they'd at least try to do something about it. Like using a text hooker, for starters. Even MTL can be a part of the learning process if it's used to learn the language.

Using machine translation actually cultivates a superior form of reading where you constantly have to use your imagination while thinking about multiple possibilites of meaning and developing a high contextual awareness, questioning every word and seeing every sentence as multiple possible sentences, composing your own story simultaneously to fill in the gaps and calculating uncertainties while contemplating the nature of ambiguity. Readers of Japanese just passively access memorised and thus already stagnant data, while MTL readers actively engage with the text on a much more fundamental level, being intellectually more in tune with the writer's intention and the truth of the text.

The point is that if you know Japanese well enough to read most things comfortably, coming across kanji you don't know will be a rare occurrence, so having to look it up manually is not a big deal. Conversely, if you still get stumped by unknown words and kanji often enough that it'd be uncomfortable without something like a texthooker, it's very likely your reading comprehension and general Japanese knowledge is not as good as you think it is, and those who shit on hookfags don't want to talk to people like that for the same reason they don't want to talk to MTL users or EOPs.

why? most eroge you can copy the files from disc and run without installing. in your case there are registry keys involved that prevent uninstalling. you could mess around with the registry but isn't it easier to copy the file to the location in the registry? the installer will then let you uninstall since it finds the files again. I've done this before. also in the future before you mess around with install files you should make a copy of the folder. when you mess up you can overwrite with the copy.

to me it's funny how hooking causes so much anger. to me it's just an easy way to look up a word. why would I self impose a huge interruption to my immersion to look up kanji by their radicals when I can just glance at my second monitor and know the reading without even a second's passing? and the next time I see the word I end up remembering its reading anyway. I've always done this and these days I hardly have to look at my second monitor. there are times where I'll go to look up a kanji/word and only then realize my clipboard inserter was turned off--that's how little the hook's presence is to me. it just seems like the autists here are masochists that like to waste their time.

In the modern world, what we need to keep the eroge industry alive is a more inclusive society who does not discriminate based on sexual preference. To truly appreciate Subahibi, you need to understand the background behind the current state of the scene when it was released. As you might or might know, the eroge scene has been on a slow decline since around 2000's with the number of kamige's decreasing per year past 2000. The old giants supporting the industry were slowly leaving the scene one by one. While the number of scenario games was slowly decreasing, the number of nukiges was actually increasing. This is where we start in Subahibi as well with the whole concept of a philosophical story. Now comes, Sca-ji, with a love letter to the eroge creators and eroge fans to keep supporting the industry. That the scenario-based eroge industry offers something wonderful that no other medium can copy, so we should not let the industry die. The name of that love letter is Subahibi and later on Tsui no Sora Remake. After the release of Subahibi, we start seeing signs of revitalization of the industry with a lot of creators putting more effort into releasing their games. After five years now, we can definitely feel the effects of Sca-ji on the industry as the number of kamige's getting released is getting close to what it was in its peak. It's still far from a complete revival though as we need more new blood in the scene.

The first game showed us how creating a paradise for people is the same as creating a living hell for others. The sequel, Tsui no Sora Remake, shows us the point of view of the gay school kids, the antagonists in the first game, and how they ended up in their positions. It shows different people’s view on sex through different characters, and how that caused discrimination and conflict among them. That conflict could easily have been avoided through tolerance of the other person’s views. Similar to its prequel, Tsui no Sora Remake is a story of tolerance of the minority, and tolerance on other people’s sexual fetish. People just need to be allowed to search for someone else who can understand them without fearing for their safety. That is all that is needed to give the minority a place to belong to.

Is this BRAVE?
Is the gameplay really that bad compared to previous entries?

I tried getting into several VB games but I always end up feeling like I'm trying to manage a huge spreadsheet.
And because there's so much happening on the screen it's difficult to tell what exactly went wrong or right in terms of party building.
If Brave simplifes things down to one small party without having to think about global strategy map, then maybe I can get into it.
Or was there something else that resulted in worse scores and reviews?

Yeah, it's Brave.
Well, it does simplifes things like you said, but probably too much. It almost feel like an entirely different game. I could see why old fans would take issue with it.

Would you say it's too easy compared to older entries?
Or just not really engaging?

I have Brave rewards turned on. Brave News, Brave notifications, and Brave new tab sponsored images, all with Brave ads, are activated. I'm really enjoying the BAT tokens that I'm collecting. Being Brave isn't just a way of life, it's also allowed me to be apart of a new paradigm shift for the internet. Without the Brave Browser, I would be preyed upon and defenseless. I now understand what being Brave truly means.

No interest in it whatsoever. Well, ok, I liked Metro as a universe and a bunch of side stories were good. The main books not so much.

Not everyone is an MTL pigtard, I like misery porn far more than nothing happening amidst repeating lines.

It's not too easy, I think. I still died several times.
I suppose unengaging is an apt description. Battles don't have that "oomph" feel. Since there are less units, there are less builds. Spawns are only there to give passives to the mothers. The card skills, besides the main casts', feel weak.
Some other thing were really annoying too. Battles drag on too much. Dungeon maps feel cramped. The cards mechanics are RNG.
