Should I buy Minna No Nihongo?

That being over buying Genki books. I can read most basic japanese somewhat quickly. I also know a huge ammount of grammar and kanjis.

Thing is, I feel a bit stuck; sometimes I get stuck while reading, and I feel like my vocabulary isn't growing either. I'm a fluent bilingual Eng/Spa speaker, and even as I write, read, and understand spoken japanese (to a basic level), I can't bring myself to express even a single sentence or my mind gets blocked trying to find the words I need and sometimed I don't even find them and have to look them up.

Just in case, I'm self taught, been for months, and am considering buying this book. If recommended, which one? I've seen many "editions" or weird stuff.

I feel like I know exactly what you mean by feeling locked up. This happens when you learn a language in an environment that doesn't force you to use it. Grammar and vocabulary only helps provide the tools to properly express yourself, but using a language in practice requires more than just knowing these tools are available. I haven't gotten over this yet but in my case, I try to formulate answers or thoughts to Japanese media I consume (especially while reading) which somewhat alleviates this issue. I also try to communicate with native speakers on easy or familiar topics. I don't know if reading more textbooks would solve it by itself...
