Seems like we are getting more and more of clear picture of just how advance the Kappa really are. A mass produced Gameboy shows that the animal realm is at least hitting the 20th century level of tech, but the Kappa's utter astonishment of it shows they are still really behind the outside world when it's not fantastical technology like cloaking.

CDS has Miyoi show up when Mizuchi enters the town, and we know she only showed up recently in the village because she left Suika's gourd.
Then there was Orin bitching about some vengeful ghost that can be Mizuchi in LE, but she talks about her as if no one knows about her.
TH19 takes place before LE, as shown by this chapter, but in the game, I think Reimu? asks Orin about how her hunt for the vengeful ghost is going.
In other words, an absolute hodgepodge.

I almost forgot a really important detail. CDS has the underground completely sealed off, with no one being able to leave or enter until Mizuchi is dealt with.
So TH19 being before or after CDS is also in the air, since Orin has to have left the underground to take part in the incident.

It could also be the metaphorical tech trees they specced into were the autistic heavy machinery kind rather than for pleasure kind. Game consoles could have theoretically been a thing since TV screens, but it took another 30-some years until then, and they're both in the same genre of entertainment... mostly anyways.

I think this might be my favourite little mini-arc in the manga so far
it wasn't really presented like some big event, compared to something like the rain chapters, but more like an interesting mystery to figure out, and I absolutely loved seeing Reimu and Marisa's interactions in this chapter. They don't usually investigate together, and when they do, one of them usually already knows more than the other, so seeing them both talk to each other normally about their plan and how to approach things was great. It made them actually feel like friends meanwhile in CDS Reimu just forgets Marisa exists for a while. For once, I didn't feel annoyed at Nitori's involvement because it actually made sense and didn't feel forced in, and the otterbro was nice and gave us some fun Animal Realm lore
Also, it was really pretty. Mizutaki's art is great.
I hope the next chapters follow this sort of style.

see the thing is...Yachie even comments on it in 19. She says that it's unlike her to attack from the front and she doesn't seem to know why she's doing it. The idea is supposed to be that Zanmu's manipulations were more compelling than it seemed and everyone just behaved the way she wanted them to regardless of whether it made sense or not, but it's not really made all the clear through shmup dialogue so it just seems like yachie was a retard. The only actual miscalculation she made was Aunn, I think.

I'd argue it's the best chapter so far, normally I shit on the Whaloid manga but this time we got plenty of worldbuilding, lots of bits of lore, the story tying up with the most recent game, newhu cameos, plenty of interactions between characters we care about, cute winter 'hus, jokes that actually land and an interesting cliffhanger. I like LE, it kind of is showing how regular incidents occur in Gensoyko, ones that aren't the big bombastic events like in the game.
Youkai are freaking humans out, sometimes unintentionally, until it gets resolved by either by force, trickery, or negotiations.
The problem is really Miyoi, and the need for the story to start at her bar. She would be a pretty good supporting character, like that bar owner who gives the detective clues because the info of the seedy underbelly slips into the establishment, but she kind of is obliged to do something in every arc because she is the MC.

Atari Lynx had four buttons, and it was released just two months after the Gameboy. So it's not like handhelds were just sticking to the two button format during their early life.
Frankly, I don't know why the LE artist drew this NotGameboy with that weird button configuration. The two extra buttons look really obtuse and annoying to hit with their weird shape, smaller size, and the large separation from the rounder buttons.
