Drawing's a very lonely hobby. Making art is in general. Average person looks at a finished work of art for like fifteen seconds, the artist probably spent fifteen hours on it. Staring at it, looking at its flaws over and over again, feeling generally dissatisfied with the finished product but not being able to elucidate on how or why. Then once whatever you're doing is done, you get very little helpful, constructive feedback that could actually help you get better. She's a kitsune which are famous shapeshifters, judging by the tube fox in WaHH who goes from tiny fox to Marisa sized (also tiny) changing her size should not actually be particularly difficult.

That's something in general with monster girls. The exotic monster parts aren't used as much as the regular woman parts, and less think outside the box with them. Think of how Yukari's gaps are expressed, often simple teleportation and not often do you see something clever done with them.
But when they're done well, it's good. For example, there's a move Ran has in Fantasy Maiden Wars where her tails just infinitely extend and become projectiles to trap and hit the target. FMW in general has a lot of cool moves that make good use of character's powers.

Ran is 99.9% fox by body mass, but that's just because her tails skew it so far. Fortunately she keeps most of the mass shrunk down, but when she releases it it's a fluffsplosion. Also she clogs bath drains a lot.

Not really. That's more the domain of Yukari being the creepy eyeball monster and gaps pulling out or becoming God knows what. In Ran's case the most I see are those heavily leaning into the horror aspect of a Youkai fox and the weirder parts of Japanese Mythology. There you get the sharp foxlike features and the obvious inhuman nature.
