It gets a lot of artists right (spacezin, zounose, Imizu, starraisins to name a few). If your guy draws Touhou, it has a high chance of recognizing them. NAI is heavily trained on Touhou materials. Outside of that, it's a coin toss.

For background, it depends on your prompt-fu. An artist (or multiple artists) that does beautiful backgrounds inside your prompt will impact things the most. (pic related for when I'm not using any artist tags). Not very impressive.

NAI prompting is closer to Danbooru tagging. If you don't know what that is then you're missing too many of the basics.

It's also a little more freeform if you want to adjust your prompt; it's not just limited to booru-style.
In the image, you can sub from_behind with back shot for instance.

Emphasize what you REALLY want to show up {like this} (For example : {choker} or {choker:1.4}. The number usually ranges from 1-2) Usually normal prompting is enough for everything to show up, but for when your prompt is bloated, or when you want to focus on a certain aspect, like the artist, some kind of specific pose or angle.
You can also mix artists to create the aesthetic you want. Artist keywords also influence the overall style the most.

Drop some of the NAI images in this thread or the previous one to learn from examples. You don't need to absolutely bloat the undesired content tab; NAI V3 is good right out of the box, especially if you're doing 2hu stuff.

NAI and most of the other groups are building off it. Certainly if you want to copy a specific anime character or art style it's the way.
Go look at the thread on /g/ and check out civitai to get an idea of what people are doing.
You'll need a decent GPU and the ability to build a Python environment, but the power is immense.
