My analog stick is too fucked up to play MH, plus my PSP won't turn on unless it's plugged into it's charger. This leads to one the following while hunting:

A. Analog stick fucks up in a terrible spot, monster kills me
B. Charger cord falls out, PSP shuts off right as I'm about to kill the monster
C. Both

I bought a Tenda usb wireless dongle that said it worked with the PSP, but it LIED TO ME. I even went to the trouble of downloading the chipset drivers and trying them instead of the Tenda drivers, and I still couldn't get any kind of X-Link Mode option to appear. Get a new battery (a legit one, most 3rd-party ones you see online are shit and will die in a week) and a new analog stick. Both are cheap and easy to replace (hardest bit about stick replacement is avoiding getting dust behind the screen).

I went through all the guides on that wiki, and all assume that the "PSP Xlink Mode" option exists in the driver options. It didn't exist with any of the three drivers I tried (with the device, from the Tenda website, and from the chipset manufacturer). So I took the thing back, and I intend to look elsewhere for another one that will do the job.

OS is Win7 Pro, 64bit.

If I do get it working sometime though, I'd love to play online with some /jp/sies.

Well, I didn't play online yet but I managed to see people in guild hall while I was checking out my x-link adapter.

It's not as good as you might think. The fact it's now fully online and a social game is an improvement over regular MH, but unless you have a background in grinding games you'll quit before you even hit HR10.

Not really. Monsters have 4.3x as much HP as their MHF2 counterparts to make up for the 4 player groups, and the weapons do less damage than they do in the PSP games. It's not very practical.

Before I played MHF, I played MHFU, and I always believed that playing with other people would remove most of the finesse from a hunt.
I was mostly right, but it's still really fun.
