It takes about 4 generations to create a standard katana... I don't see how a mass-produced western sword could stand up to it.

Katana is light and meant to cut through flesh and/or slice through open areas in armor.

Broadsword is heavy and meant to crush armor and deal blunt trauma if it didn't kill on a blow.
