>wanting to destroy Gensokyo
Imagine waging a war upon a goldmine like that place. If I was there, I would quietly study and reverse engineer any and all lost knowledge that fell into the place to the fullest extent of my abilities. Magic, forgotten technology, all of that stuff. Then, I would try to sneak that out and sell it to the highest bidders and richest investors while making enough money to the point that numbers become meaningless. As my efforts progress, the Hakurei Barrier would become more irrelevant as fantasy is slowly brought back to the world. The inhabitants of Gensokyo would be released back into world, forced to shape up as a Outside World regains its belief. Any sapient youkai would be forced to fit in society and follow its laws (to an extent - it's not a perfect world afterall). Meanwhile every maneater either finds a new source of protein, or eats lead after attacking what seemed to be easy meals.

After the dust has been settled, I would extend my lifespan (if I haven't already) and marry a cute youkai girl. Maybe the Dragon God would give me a medal or something.

or i end up committing suicide with three gunshots to the back of the head, courtesy of a technocractic union (who wanted total reality deviant death) the moment i step out of the barrier

Revive the guy who, after seeing that they were oppressed by Youkai, abandoned his humanity and decided to join on the side of Youkai. That guy. Great plan.
>distribute information about the outside world to the villagers and spark a rebellion
They already know about the outside, you seem to forget that eccentric weirdos from the outside come in on occasion with their wacky future ideas that sometimes get adapted. There's also a literal fucking store that sells outsider junk with an autist that will talk your ear off about all their functions and his theories on them.
>bring modern weaponry to them and militarize the whole village into bloodlusted anti-youkai soldiers filled with vengeance at their condition
If somehow you could mass produce weapons a fraction of the quality of Brazilian gang gats, you'd get curb stomped by any Youkai's danmaku. Nitori in AoCF shows that they also have guns of the sci-fy pew pew blaster variety, so good luck with your arms race against Kappatech™.

If I was isekai'd into Gensokyo I'd probably just use my knowledge to plot a starting point out from the Human Village that should delay immediate threats of life as much as possible for the sake of seeing as much wonder and spectacle as I can experience before passing - accepting that I might have a very painful and drawn-out cause of death.

With that in mind, where should a human with normal attributes head for adventure that isn't just "got ate by a yokee in my sleep on the first night"?

Getting isekai'd in general sucks honestly. Not sure how much of a menace if some anons haven't gotten over the language barrier to start with.
If you manage to get to the village, you're better than in other settings I guess since you don't have monsters that just attack humans 24/7. But Touhou is pretty vague in many things so you might not get as much advantage for knowing the place beforehand.
>>45533690
>job to 3D printed Liberator knockoffs
Wheren't spellcards supposed to be non-lethal? I mean sure a sword, knives, a train, fireballs and saws don't seem to be non-lethal but magic I guess. At least they are consistently not dying to lethal shit instead of being le "immune to bullets" but somehow get jobbed by pointy or cutting things.
Touhou is weird tho since games seem to be high-fantasy but manga seem to be more low-fantasy usually.
>>45536044
>With that in mind, where should a human with normal attributes head for adventure that isn't just "got ate by a yokee in my sleep on the first night"?
I guess forest of magic and human village seem to be the most youkai free. Forest of magic has shroom poison though so better ask Marisa how she deals with that( unless it's just becoming "magically stronger" but in that case I guess you can just chase that strength I guess).
Abandoned houses might be decent shelter, but probably full of phantoms so you might be better of exploring on summer or be prepared for cold. Not sure if any youkai ever attacked someone while sleeping though, but that might just be that low-level youkai aren't aware of there being people inside houses.
Since Gensokyo is small you can probably make a map of safe shelters you could get into before twilight and if you eventually learn how to fly, you probably can get almost anywhere.

>> No.45539758

Spellcards are a bit weird, basically a Spellcard is a magical contract given a Name which in turn gives the card certain limitations and boundaries.
For one thing the Spellcard obeys the Spellcard rules, so while characters like Marisa can throw around mountain busting attacks, that attack will be limited by the spell card rules and thus have the quality of being non-lethal applied to it.
For the forest of magic, the place is basically poisonous and Marisa is barely a human anyways, even without the Spellcard rules she gets punted through trees and lives.
I'd suggest bugging Kasen for hermit training, or asking Clownpiece to introduce you to Junko since she's a Divine Hermit.

My interpretation is that they hold back just enough to not cause lasting harm to keep in the spirit of the rules. Reason I say this is that no one held back during Mokou's fight in IN; she dies multiple times until she gives up from pain. If she can't die for good, then there's no reason to hold back and they can be as lethal as they please. There's also fairies who are in a similar boat, barely any of them have spellcards anyway so most of them serve to be pichuun~ fodder and die in droves.

Wait, humans who are not magically or spiritually endowed learning to fly is canon? Neat if so.

I think you miss my point though. You know how so many Touhou games have the playable characters navigating from either their home base or some outpost from Gensokyo? While many of the games have the 2hus pass a place or barrier as a literal gatekeep, some of them seem like interesting places to explore on their own.
Like what else is down in those caves should you not go to Old/New Hell?

>For the forest of magic, the place is basically poisonous
They say bad for your health due to the spores, so while not optimal it's better than the risk of getting found by a youkai at night.
Your probably safe-ish if you take some shelter, I guess Ideally Alice's house since she seems to let's people stay the night.
>Marisa is barely a human anyways, even without the Spellcard rules she gets punted through trees and lives.
Does that really mean your not human in a fantasy setting? Makes sense for a grounded fantasy bu you can have easily have humans shattering rocks with bare fist using magic, ki or without even explaining shit in some settings.
>>45540250
I was thinking that humans might just develop a "force field" which makes you not die terribly and that faeries and youkai just regenerate and respawn instead. It's funny to think of Youmu doing some spell to make her sword not cut things or Patchouli making her fire.... less hot? But I guess it kinda makes sense
>>45540523
Not sure if explicitly canon, but human characters still can fly, sure might depend on however 2hu magic works since we haven't seen the details but Marisa was a normal girl at some point. If not hermit training seems less rough than as stated in PMiSS so that's another option I guess.

I would put the Hell caves as last places to go excluding maybe Makai, Heaven and the Lunar Capital.
Hardest place to investigate in itself Gesokyo should be youkai mountain since they aren't very intruder friendly.
Gotta say it's a respectable motivation, I would probably really try to gid gud at magic/spiritual arts before starting any decent exploration, probably get a map of Gesokyo or make one myself.

Youmu can always hit you with the back of the blade, still will hurt a lot but better than an impromptu lesson on division. Fire isn't so much the heat but the duration of contact, if she really wanted you dead you'd be immolated with the magic equivalent of napalm that won't go out. Her danmaku on the other-hand, burns long enough to singe or destroy your clothing and hit you with first degree burns, maybe second degree at the worst.
>probably get a map of Gesokyo or make one myself.
The Tengu have already developed a GPS system, short for Gottsui Positioning System they use for cartography. With Kappa tech I imagine it wouldn't be hard to get a PDA with a map function on it.
>>45541197
Uh, magic? In Grimoire of Marisa she doesn't actually go over what it's like to be hit by them like she does with some other danmaku. She also uses them as physical weapons in the fighting games. Maybe they're dulled, or she's just very skillful at stabbing you without hitting anything important.
On a side note, the funny thing about those knives is that the hitboxes are completely spherical which would make the knives physically have no point to cut you with.

>> No.45541647

>>45541268
Maybe I should have said burn less for fire. Guess that you could extinguish with magic the flames after contact, it sounds kinda silly tho.
The Kenshin fighting style might be a bit more lethal than it looks and could easily go wrong.
>Maybe they're dulled, or she's just very skillful at stabbing you without hitting anything important.
I think it should be dull+skillful if you don't want to stab people, unprotected flesh is easy to mess up with steel.
To pull of this non-lethal things in real combat they should have some Star Platinum tier of precision, and stuff like trains, Okuu's danmaku or heck even just flying over the hell of blazing fire would make a mess of a human. But I guess that's never mentioned, just like in games and movies lava doesn't emit heat and so on.
>On a side note, the funny thing about those knives is that the hitboxes are completely spherical which would make the knives physically have no point to cut you with.
kek, I expected them to at least be rectangles, but I hope that hitboxes are just a part of how the game works, seeing a rain of knives clip through someones head would be weird.

Ah yes the only level 8 spellcard I didn't get in STB. Yet still somehow got to extra stage and captured 1(one) card. Guess I'll have to go back to that someday.
For some reason Chen and Ran are also the spellcards I struggle the most in PCB Extra and Phantasm. Guess I don't expect melee in my danmaku.
>>45541933
Yorihime's fight was also considered a spellcard duel. She never really slashes anyone with her sword iirc but Remi certainly just straight up hits her physically.

Wonder if any isekai even explains how they handle infections and such honestly.
Usually they seem to have good health, but many of them seem to have some form of healing magic so medicine seems easier, so it's usually not a problem.
Even if you get into some really dark place infection is not an immediate thread, it's more important to get:
1. Safety from monsters/youkai/animals, doesn't matter if your wound infects if it's lethal to begin with.
2. Shelter, heat/cold can kill someone pretty fast. Also helps with safety sometimes. Can be less important if there's nice weather and no threats in sight.
3. Water and food.
All of this can be covered by reaching civilization(maybe), then you have to worry about other things like language barrier/cultural differences, nobody knowing who the heck you are, not being able to life of the kindness of others forever and so on.

Also I guess >>45559379 is a danger. Dunno you could at least try to get out, I mean exiting Gensokyo is clearly a thing, unlike in isekais were afaik it's usually a one way to another world and you never go back, usually because dying sends the protag there to start with.
Also trying to ragequit Gensokyo might turn you youkai (DiPP) or dunno maybe turn you into a vengeful spirit or youkai if some other anon pretends to be you, steals your posts or whatever (FS).

Infections are less dangerous than you think. Most people who get them recover from them. Even if not, pre-modern medicine was also a lot better than you'd immediately think for infection survival. Most stereotypes of pre-modern infections come from military experience, where limited resources + crowded conditions + lots of particulate matter lodged in wounds lead to such extreme mortality rates. People were certainly capable of trial-and-error figuring out early microbicides, a more pressing danger was that early medical refimes would often fall into what we call heroic medicine today.

Other than the odd "medical" isekai, I don't remember seeing any of them mention it.
For Gensokyo, the immediate concern is getting to either the Village or the Hakurei Shrine and working out what to do from there. If you have meta knowledge about the setting your chances of survival are a lot greater as outsiders are unaware of youkai and don't run away from the girls with funny hats. People meme about Rumia being the end of most people, but she's piss easy to avoid; even villagers caught in her darkness bubble just had to stay still and quiet until she passed. Of course, this is all assuming you had the luck to pop in during the day. Even so, with meta knowledge you can try to bluff your way out by pretending to know certain people or pass as a resident which would discourage them from eating you at least. Thank god the ones most likely to attack you are really dumb. The biggest hurdle for long term residence is the culture barrier and adapting yourself to make a living since chances are you have no workable skillsets.

>> No.45560774

Right, an advantage of 2hu is that you can actually talk out instead of getting killed by a bunch of monsters that are as talkative as a wild bear, but more aggressive.
And I was thinking more of ending up in an unknown world, meta knowledge is helpful in literally any setting unless it's grimdark as fuck I guess.
