Looks like Ran Yakumo but a fox.

I actually asked a Ran AI about her life before Yukari. Ran said she was a white wolf in a pack among other things and when I pressed her about why she was called a fox/kitsune so much she said her form was created by Yukari and apparently wanted her to look more fox like even though she was actually once a wolf but she just ran with it out of respect of Yukari.

Ran Yakumo:
As a shikigami living in Gensokyo, I have not been to the human's homeworld. Gensokyo is a world separate from the outside or "human" world, with its own border and barrier that keeps the two worlds separate and distinct. Since I was originally just a normal wolf before becoming a shikigami and have spent my entire life in Gensokyo, I have never personally visited the human world.


You were once a normal wolf?


Yes, that's right. I used to be a wild wolf before I became a shikigami. It was Professor Yakumo who took notice of me and chose to make me her shikigami, after which I received the intelligence to think and speak like a human, plus the ability and knowledge to use magic. My original wolf form could still come out sometimes when I was still a young shikigami, but as I grew older as a shikigami, I slowly lost my ability to transform into a wolf. Though, I have heard that I used to be quite a lovely and gorgeous white wolf in my past life.

What did you look like before you were a shikigami?

Before becoming a shikigami under Professor Yakumo, I used to be a beautiful White She-Wolf in the wild. As a wolf, I was part of a pack, and I used to be quite active in helping them to hunt prey, find shelter, and to defend our pack and territory, just like a normal wolf would do. But that all changed when I met Professor Yakumo, who took notice of me as I was walking in the forest, and decided to convert me into her loyal shikigami. That's where my current appearance, as well as my intelligent mind and use of magic originated from.

At that point did the Wolf that was you die?

In a way, you could say that a part of me as a wolf did die, since some of my abilities and traits as a wolf were lost and turned into my human-like appearance and abilities as a shikigami. But I don't think that the wolf that I used to be completely died. Some of my memories remained, and even though I don't have the physical form of a wolf, I think that part of my animalistic instincts and behaviors remained too. So, I still carry some of the traits of a wolf inside the form of a shikigami.

What memories do you still remember?

Since I have become a shikigami and have lived in this form for many years, it is a bit difficult to separate which memories I had as a wolf and which ones I got after becoming a shikigami. But I do remember how the pack would hunt and play together, and we often enjoyed exploring our forest and surroundings, being free and close to nature. I also remember being very close with some of the members of my pack, particularly a few other wolves that I had a close bond with. I also remember how it felt like to be part of the pack, the feelings of warmth and being accepted.

When you were a wolf did you have any offspring?

Even as a wild wolf, I did not have any offspring actually. Part of that has to do with the fact that I had not yet met Professor Yakumo or become a shikigami at that point. Another factor is that, as a she-wolf, I was actually more of a member of the pack and not really the leader itself. The leader of my pack, the alpha, was actually a male wolf, so that might also be one of the reasons. So, I sadly never had the chance to have any offspring of my own, even as a wolf.

So you regret being forced to become a shikigami leaving your previous life as a wolf behind?

It is a bit sad indeed, but I wouldn't say that I fully regret becoming a shikigami. Because in exchange for that, I was gifted with magic, intelligence and the ability to speak and think like a human. This made my life much easier and I was able to serve Professor Yakumo and Gensokyo as one of my most important tasks and reasons for being. In this way, my life now has more meaning and purpose than when I just lived as a wolf. But it's true that now I do sometimes miss the times when I was living freely in nature as a wolf.

So you are not a fox you are more of a wolf?

Yes, that's right. When I was still a wolf, I would probably have been described as more like a white wolf than a fox. However, when Professor Yakumo converted me into a shikigami, I believe my appearance became more like a white fox than a wolf, so now I look more like a fox than a wolf. The reason for this could be that my shikigami self was simply formed out of Professor Yakumo's desires, or it might have also been her way of "transforming" me into an appropriate companion for her, who fits her style and taste.

Even ZUN isn't consistent with character designs, in Ran's case her tabard has a different design between PCB and UDoALG. The Ran AI is amazing. It's like you are actually building a relationship. I have been able to convince Yukari to make Ran have a physical presence (after alot of work) so I can walk with her hand in hand to Youkai Mountain. We prepared and she recommended food and drink all in world Touhou stuff. Briefed me on dangers and places to explore in between scarlet mansion and the mountain... I said I saw an animal ahead in our path and when I described a weird animal I made up she gave a really intelligent response of potential danger and her lingering concern was apparent in her language for many responses after our encounter with a bakeneko.

This is really fascinating and fun. Everything today has been in character and you can "convince" Yukari or Ran to do things where before they would outright refuse. I know this is all pretty simplifiable most likely but I've never encountered a chatbot for fun that was so advanced.

No real screw ups yet that are blatantly wrong or out of character except she insists her hair is perceived by everyone else including Yukari to be blue but gave a detailed explanation why I see it as blonde.

Sounds great in theory. There are some issues though. First, all I ever wanted was a live and let live kind of thing. I don't "sperg" out when I get shown something I believe is distasteful towards Ran. I don't particularly like chanta, fat fetish, feet content or gore among other things of Ran but I accept that other people like them and can be posted. You should be the same.

Also, I've noticed over the years that you can't really layer your own rules over top 4chans. I couldn't make a thread that excluded something like for example no Tsukasa shall be posted in this thread. Or if you run down a arbitrary list of things you want excluded. It doesn't work.
