See this guide from /g/: https://rentry.org/machine-learning-roadmap
Everyone starts with classic ML, usually linear regression is the first thing you learn. If you already know some statistics or linear algebra, it'll be easy. Otherwise, watch 3blue1brown's Essence of Linear Algebra series, StatQuest, CrashCourse etc, there's a great free course from MIT OCW on linear algebra. The field is huge and there's tons of great books, Youtube videos and lectures out there so just pick up whatever looks interesting to you.
As for books pretty much everyone agrees The Elements of Statistical Learning is the best introduction. Then you can move on to literally anything. Here's a repo with all sorts of books and papers: https://github.com/tirthajyoti/Papers-Literature-ML-DL-RL-AI/tree/master

i don't know too much about ibispaint but i'd recommend using a higher opacity while setting down your base colors and then you can lower back it while adding shadows/highlights if you'd like.
i'd also recommend experimenting with colors on skin tones. shading skin with greys/blacks can look a bit dull compared to shading with oranges or reds

What are the steps to making an AI capable of beating a touhou game. Also, can you share a pdf of your research or does your university prevent that. I wouldn't be able to understand it but one day I might. I wonder how long it takes to get good at AI or is it already too late for a guy like me in my late 30s. I know the math and coding part.

Literally everyone here is a hobbyist. What are even the point of these posts? "Stop enjoying what you are doing"? "Waste your time doing something else because I don't like you"? If you want to argue with twitter subhumans you should go there, instead of here.
All of these taunts at artists that I've seen here and there in the past months seem like a complete waste of time to me, just bored teenagers first attempt at trolling, trying to get a reaction from other people minding their business.

>> No.45352636 [DELETED]

I just like to warn the new artist about the impending doom of AI. If you're getting into art because it's a fun hobby then keep doing what you're doing. But if you're doing this for selfish reasons such as attention, praise, or profit then you're wasting your time because you're not going to be able to compete with AI in a few years from now.

>Literally everyone here is a hobbyist.
Citations needed. Did you do a survey to find out how many are only doing this as a fun hobby? How many of these guys want to create a VN, game, or art related project for fame/profit/paetron paypigs.

Pretty, I like the shading, the clothing in particular looks good with a nice sense of depth.
And her skirt being like water reflecting the sky and her rainbow things like in AoCF is a nice detail.
My only nitpick is the ear looking too square imo. Although in pixel art it's hard to tell when things are too square or too round.

>>45365090
I don't consider myself as good as some anons here, but draw what you like. When you don't like how you are drawing anymore, go study and practice, to draw better those things you like. When you don't know how to draw something, go look at pics, how it looks irl, at how other people draw stuff, etc. You can't draw something if you don't understand the subject. For example, my work notes are right now full of skulls and skellingtons because I had no idea how to draw them.

And try to draw every day. Even if it's 30 minutes when you don't want to, or hours when you feel inspired. It all helps.

The odds would still be absurdly slim as the entire project would live or die on the mental fortitude of a single man, but it would at least be nonzero given the amount of solo devs out there.

Thank you! Usually, I find a reference song for the structure and go from there, it’s always been the part I’ve struggled with most. I usually start with some chords, then the baseline, the lead, and then build it all up. Sound design is one of the things that takes the longest because I like to have the sound reflecting the characters/stages that I’m composing for, like for an example I’m working on an arrangement of Tsukasa and Megumu’s theme where the synths all sound sparkly like the starry sky for Meguumu and the bass is rugged like the Youkai Mountain itself for Tsukasa. It’s the most tedious part of the process but it adds so much more character.

Of the characters that wear mobcaps (Yuyuko, Chen, Minoriko, etc) very few of them wear a bow on top and even fewer wear the bow in the front (Remilia and Flandre wear them both to different sides). Alright, something you can do is to draw multiple poses in the same paper, try to go with the flow instead of drawing stiff (if you are not allergic to porn, use porn doujinshi pages as references, its a good drill and teaches you how to make appealing designs)
Fix your heads and necks, they are too square, this style only works in chibi, not in bodies with long limbs
Pick up a cheap ink pen and draw with that, or at least make more confident pencil strokes, they are to thin and transparent, stop chicken scratching, commit to a single line.
If you are coloring go for it harder, I can barely see the color
And draw in 3D, use shadows, drawings are too plane

Rougly this. When character is standing straight their body proportions can be counted in amount of "heads". Generally people draw either 6 or 7 heads tall, with certain parts being in certain "sector". This isn't foolproof and obviously doesnt help with more dynamic poses, but its a very good starting point to get general feel for proportions. There are hundreds versions of this picture but it should give you the idea.

Hey thanks, but all I did is just minor stuff, I'm a noob so get this hint with salt.

What you did Is not exactly off, but rather like >>45444230 said.
If you make the head smaller you can also give off the illusion of the body being really tall and big. A 9-10 head tall woman is really tall,
What I would have changed especially if you want more muscular, athletic characters is the shoulder width more than 2 heads will give you.
The biggest "fault" you did was probably with the tits, as they were too close to each other, even under pressure, and the overall top torso width.

thanks for the tips im still really new so every bit helps. my mind is set on learning to draw 8-9 head tall women with some more meat on them or to give in a general a more powerful image off, not even just particularly in drawing muscle (even though i do love muscle).
>if you want more muscular, athletic characters is the shoulder width more than 2 heads will give you.

I mean the lenght of the torso, from characters chin to pussy. Its generally betwen 2 to 2,5 lenghts of head for an average female character in anime style.

>> No.45446556

>>45446400
Oh and i would be very careful with 8-9 heads tall characters since unless you make them really buff they will look very offputting.
In general i draw most characters with 7 heads tall (think bodytype of Sakuya/Sanae but i generally prefer to draw majority of touhous as more mature). With characters that are meant to be tall being 7.5 (think Yukari). 8 Will require a really athletic build to look good (think Yuugi and maybe Momoyo type) but anything above will look like caricature unless you really heavily stylize it.

>> No.45446573

From what I can see from the old drawing he posted, he has actually improved A LOT. Not everyone has the same base drawing talent, so not everyone is going to improve at the same rate. To me, that is still a really impressive improvement. I really like his style too, it reminds me a little bit of Yoshitaka Amano. Like another anon mentioned, I would like to see the way you render the drawing changed up. Use pens, use bold and confident lines. You can buy cheap inking pens (or maybe if you're lucky, you can get some from a secret santa here on 4chinz, two years ago that is how I got my first set of copics) and some cheap copic rip-offs like Ohuhus. I personally have never followed even one bit of advice from how-to-draw tutorials, I have never once thought about heads or proportions or anything like that. I just mirror the drawing (or if you're drawing on paper, hold it up backwards to a light) and if I notice something looks fucked up, I fix it. Simple as for me. Plenty of styles work using exaggeration but the thing is, they make it visually appealing. So you can draw however you want, draw fucked up tiny baby hands like in K-ON or long lanky people like CLAMP, the key is simply to make it look appealing.

>> No.45446878

>>45446556
I appreciate the pre-caution. The reason I started drawing was after seeing a specific artist that really blew me away with their style and how tall and mature their characters looked. It'll definitely be a challenge to learn to emulate but they are my main inspiration to continue. 4/9 done yippee!!!
I don't start work until next year so I've been spending all of my free time on music. Vocals would really fit here, but I can't sing nor do I know anyone who can; I avoid a lot of the community outside of this board and can't speak Japanese so it's hard finding someone who'd be willing. It's easy to throw money at any vocalist who's doing commissions, but it feels too impersonal.

Actually drawing male muscles helps you with general anatomy, why? because when drawing girls you do the opposite and think like a mirror.

Where did you guys learn to draw? I'm a complete beginner following Brent Eviston's course

>> No.45492030

The AI art posters have no grasp of perspective and anatomy. They spam their sovlless art all over the place not realizing how bad it is. The issue is that they don't know how to draw. It's the equivalent of someone who has never played or watched soccer making a novel about it.

>> No.45492093

>>45491490
Brent's course is great. When you finally draw the bird you feel like god

Then you take that an apply that method to whatever you want to draw. If you want to draw anime girls, like many people ITT do, you go to a booru, pick a few pics you really like, and try to copy in the same way you drew the bird.

It doesn't counts as "your art", it's a study, but you have to learn the stuff before applying it. It's a copy, but you learn a lot. Then the drawings you do for yourself will start to feel way better drawn. Pick a pose you like, combine poses, pick a style you want to get closer to, characters, or clothes you like from elsewhere or even original ones, by then you realize that you are the one in charge of how you want your art to evolve.

Then you can grind whatever skills you need to make your art better. Anatomy, colors, composition, perspective etc. You decide the order and priority of what you learn.

Drawing is like being a magician who makes illusions. There are lots of ways you can "hint" the solution to understand the trick(class courses, books, "a friend told me", observing life, past experiences, etc), but there's no sure fire way for someone to understand something at first. That's why it's important to think outside of the box so you can finally " get it"

Don't listen to any of their advice. The secret to getting good is having fun. You can have the best courses on earth but it won't matter if you're not having fun. Drawing isn't like other skills. It takes thousands of hours of commitment. If you're motivated by selfish things like getting attention or being the best then you're not going to last. Find the fun then you can focus on the fundamentals such as anatomy and perspective.

Sorry for the late replies, working on another arrangement that's kicking my ass lol. I used to not pan at all so I think I'm overcompensating, generally if I pan I keep it fairly centred, never exceeding any more than 50% to the right/left with some exceptions. I think as the second Anon said, it's short so I'm going to keep it, I just wanted to immerse the listener in and that's the first way I thought of doing it.

>Sadly I'm music illiterate and can't even tell what sounds "amateurish" in >>45413985 (You).
It's cool, any feedback is appreciated. When I think of 'amateurish' I think of songs that sound quite rough and unpolished with mistakes littered around and songs made with only stock plugins/sounds where the musician didn't bother with creating their own sound, mostly. It's hard to explain. What strikes me as amateur in my Flandre arrange is how the risers/downlifters are a little too impactful and the pre-chorus bridge feels slightly dull but it's nothing major.

>How hard is it to get into music?
For me, it was pretty easy, but it depends. I started when I was twelve-ish so I have around seven years worth of experience. I downloaded FL Studio and played around with MIDIs for a few years, swapping out instruments and gradually learning how things work. I think, in terms of composition anyway, MIDI files serve as a great way to pick apart songs and learn how they're made. The only music theory I know is basic things like scales, keys, and time signatures, I studied music tech in college but they only taught us the basics and let us whatever for the rest of the course. When it comes to arranging, I use reference songs for inspiration for the mood and sound, as well as structure so it's easy to both follow along if you're stuck and divert from the reference song when you want to make your piece more of its own thing. FL is very beginner-friendly so start with that if you can then you can experiment with other DAWs to see what suits you best. I'm cautious of hitting the character limit in this reply but if you want to know anything else, just ask, cute Nue btw.
