They're not dead. They have some gacha, their stuff works on some anime and manga. They develop something named "Doll's Nest" for the last few years (you can see that in their twitter profiles). This is good news, I had zero clue so much was going on behind the scenes. It's just that kind of worried me seeing the chart and hearing about the losses with Nitro+. Also this does make sense they would be going all in because of the fact their games can bypass Steam story wise even if they have to cut out sex scenes or gore to sell the Uncensored version on JAST. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but how do I get a job translating visual novels?
I have been doing translation part-time for around a year so I'm not totally new but that's mostly on the business end such as emails, ads, notices, interviews, articles, reports, etc., which is all pretty boring stuff.
Maybe I should fan TL a visual novel so I have something to show? I feel like there are only a handful of companies that translate VNs and if I just cold email them and they ignore me I won't have anything left to do.

Not many complain about literal translation but about retard translators re-writing chunk of texts just because they don't feel comfortable with the original writing and have to input their own point of view in it (be politic, sexual or toxic). And honorifics/memes apart is kinda annoying when they reverse the order names or for example localize japanese "bento" as "sadwich" instead of lunch and in the pic you can se that he's eating rice.
The problem in the actual translation industry, specially in english one companies don't even try to have some balance between literal tl and localiacion but write new text based on the original one; aca fanfiction. NisA is a good example.
