I really liked the large cast and group banter (i.e. the koibana in the title), but it gets sidelined quite a bit in non-Kokoro routes, and many routes feel like they don't address plot points that should be there. They even make a joke in Chii's route about how if you want resolution of MC's basketball arc play the fandisc. The bro characters are great and I really liked their romances but the fact that only one of them gets an actual full romantic arc and only in one route is disappointing. I really liked Mitsuo's arc and the student council election scene, and then their romance just doesn't really go anywhere for the remaining 2/3rds of the game. Still, I appreciate that they're willing to try something new and different (yuzusoft would never). Look, it's an asapro game, my thoughts are pretty much redundant. You want some funny comedy bits with cute girls, pretty good romantic arcs, and some decent h? They're your guys.

Also MC repeatedly saying he doesn't want Kokoro to wear her glasses made me truly loathe him.

You could always miss out on something, but chances are you'd have at the very least 10 cases of stuff you don't like for 1 you do, once you have been disappointed enough with similar things before.

I finally finished Shikkoku no Sharnoth. I think it was pretty good, honestly, although I'm really curious about what I would've thought if I hadn't played Inganock already. I think it didn't hit the same highs as Inganock did, but it was more consistent overall, if that makes sense. Chapters being divided into a first/second half helped a lot with giving the game a clearer focus. The music was great, especially the game over theme that also plays at the end of the game. I hadn't heard it for more than like 10 seconds, so when I got the chance to hear it for a good 10 minutes I realized how tight it was. Anyway, it's not particularly deep, but I wouldn't call it shallow, either. It goes into the world enough to make me interested in what else is going on (i.e., all the secret societies) and thus a little irking that it doesn't go more into them, but at the same time I feel like it probably would have suffered if it was drawn out longer. Music was great, art was nice and atmospheric, M was cool, Mary was cute, and the gameplay fucking sucks holy shit it's not particularly difficult but I wish I had just CTRL'd through it from beginning to end. Time to find something else to read tomorrow.

While they've hinted at it a bit before, I just reached the part where Miburo explicitly confirmed the events of Bushi no Kodou (the Chusingura fandisc) are canon to Miburo, but all happening offscreen. That's a really interesting idea, but I'm actually kinda worried because Isarin and Hijirin get absolutely crucial character development in BnK and it would be absolutely bizarre to offscreen it for Miburo, the game where they're the main heroines. It's a really interesting decision but I'm worried about the future ramifications. I guess I'll wait and reserve judgment until I've finished, but I thought I'd mention it so that if you are interested in reading these games you should now 100% read Chusingura and the fandisc first.

The one you linked was the most interesting and felt very "soulful" (apparently because it was based on the author's experiences and other people around them) but I didn't like the ending and it's really just a story about two menheras being horrible to each other and getting worse and worse over time because of the way their issues play off of each other. The girl is really jaded and distrustful of men because of her past experiences but she ends up falling hard for the protagonist despite him being a loser menhera himself who ends up mistreating her.
