I don't see why anyone would hate the US. I understand if someone has issues with the government or their policies, but the way some people treat Americans just because they're American is a bit over the top.

The real reason why everyone hates US is because they're the only superpower left in the world. We're the only ones left with both a stable economy and a state-of-the-art military in our control even though we had a dumbass leader (and some think we still do). It drives eurofags nuts because they're struggling right now.

Not really. Western Europe has been stagnating for years (the Union's increasing push to become a country is an attempt to address this) and Eastern Europe got pummelled by the crisis and had its post-Soviet growth stumble pretty badly.

US isn't as bad as other people make it out to be. Call me bias if I say this, but I'm glad our politics lean against socialism. Socialism, in my opinion, is a mere spin-off of communism. The idea is to take away money from the rich to give to the poor. Idealistically, it seams heroic. But realistically, it's stealing hard-earned cash from the rich guys simply because they have money. The guys up there worked for their cash, whereas the guys below were either too lazy to get an education or were too lazy/lacking in their potential. Capitalism doesn't mess with that, so it's basically like survival of the fittest in a political sense. This is why our economy is so stable, there's more competition and everyone has to come up with a better product in order to survive as a community/company. Where as in socialism or communism, they either give you something to fall back on- giving you a chance to slack off, or give everyone the same pay. A doctor with a master's degree wouldn't make much more than a trashman who didn't even finish HS.
I'm over-exaggerating here, but you can get the general idea why a country as a whole wouldn't keep up like that.

Actually, the press revealing extremely scandalous information about US Presidents WHILE they are in office has been a fairly recent trend. Plenty of presidents have done some severely nasty things in office that the press turned the other cheek on, with some exceptions.

As for good presidents in general, we'll never have another Grover Cleveland, which makes me sad. Teddy came close but was too corrupted by socialistic tendencies to be called his equal, though the title of best social reform president in the 20th century would probably go to either him or Kennedy.

Communism, as an economic policy, is a bastardization of Socialism, not the other way around. Marx and Engels have been recorded many times bashing their utopian-socialistic predecessors, yet they still acknowledge them as being the basis for the Communist movement.

It's not like the US are the ONLY ones who had scandals for leaders. MANY others had it MUCH worse than them
