The Reitaisai Catalog is more than twice as thick as last year's. It looks like what the Comiket catalog looked like back around ~2000.

As far as Touhou is concerned, it's considerably larger than Comiket.

And it's the only place the demos get distributed... etc.

They're for a massive composite picture for Reitaisai and random prints. It'd cost a bundle and a lot of time to commission a single artist to draw all of the Touhous, so getting everyone to submit one Touhou (for free) was the easier and quicker route.
