I haven't tried this new feature enough to suggest any move, but the classic method is to give a bell a machine gun. Though the recent speed nerf is going to make bosses take 5 eternities to kill.

Do you want her to attack with it, or is it just a stat stick? If it's going to be used it in combat at all, put only elemental damage on it. If you only want it to boost her defenses, put only elemental resistance on it.
There are different angles you can go for, but for a relatively new player I'd say Magic is the best element. For offense it's the least resisted element, and for defense it reduces all incoming elemental damage (although only by half as much as dedicated elemental resistance).

You can give her two weapons and have her use Dual Wield if you want. Might take her a bit of practice to get good at it, of course, and you'd need to take weapon weight into account. Personally I prefer Two Hand early on because it makes it a little easier to hit stuff, but in general you should be able to make any combat style work without too much trouble.

The early game nerf to exp for not finishing the main quest can't be too bad considering all the bonus exp he's snuck into the game over time. The imbue doesn't give poison damage.

I also have the Rasen, If I cast attribute shield my highest resist is fire and when I use attribue my martial art strikes do not deal cold damage with the fire imbue.
They do work on pets tho, my nurse casts Icebolt with the rasen and my harpy uses nazuna's sox as an offhander while dual wielding and her anguish jail does a small amount of poison damage after a blast of the nerve ball.

If the description says it works on spells, it will only work on spells.
