Being a shut-in with means in a rural (farm town with fiber), having gone to japan, comiket, and crossed off most of my bucket list items... I get it.

If you think about it, other people lives and inherently limited schedules are what gives time its most pertinent meaning - that's what drove timekeeping to be more precise than the passing of days and seasons. What is it about being otaku that would make someone who can read japanese, can travel and get along in the country quite fine, keeps and maintains archives online and off, and has contributed to stuff like Touhou creative project, etc. but NOT be an otaku because people want to fuck them and be around them and they don't actively resist.
