There are billions of living humans on Earth. Less than 20 are on that island. There could be even more spiritual beings in existence... less than 100 are on that island.

It's an area of hot spiritual activity, and has been for a long time it seems. No different from here on Earth.

How would they be contradicting previous episode development?
-Battler and Beatrice recognise Erika as a worthy opponent, and vice-versa
-Erika being set up as sympathetic in EP6
-Erika shown as being abused and enslaved, desperately trying to appeal to Bern because that's the extent of the love she can get
-Erika's development of her past shows her commitment against magic can hurt herself
-Bern as final villian
-Beatrice still a pawn of Bern/Lambda and Battler still incompetent; they need someone else on their side

Conclusion: Not saying it will happen, but if Erika returns it would make sense if she joined Battler and Beatrice.

Show some examples against it if you want to disagree.

EP3: Basically a whole load of 'Beatrice isn't that bad but at the end she decides she wants Battler to think she is'. Scenes from her past set up sympathy for her. Even though some of it is blown off as trolling, there is a definite presence of Beatrice caring for Battler.

The only information that Battler has that we don't was forgotten by him long ago. Everything else, the information from Episodes 1 through 4, is exactly the same. (If I'm not mistaken, Battler could even view the future of the kakera of Episode 3, with Ange and such; iirc, one of the scenes that shows up on the screen for a moment when Battler is falling through the sea of kakera is the scene with Sakutarou playing with the Stakes.)

That wordplay isn't even necessary, though, so it's unlikely to be the case. (All you need to do is this: さよ -> しゃよ -> しやよ -> よしや)

Oh yeah, and since we didn't have Kanon's human name in the first four Episodes, it's unnecessary to solve the mystery and thus the "Without love, [it] cannot be seen" line isn't referring to that; at the very least, there's more meaning to the line than just that.

Considering how often the line is used in Episode 6, and the way it's used, I have a feeling that we really are missing the true meaning of it.

...Beatrice.
Listen carefully.
I will turn over my love for Battler to you.
Become the woman Battler desires.

I will give you the blonde hair he desires.
I will give you the blue eyes he desires.
I will give you the personality suited to him that he desires.
And... In place of me, love him.
And if possible, be loved by him.

I can no longer love him.
The feelings I could not obtain...the feelings I could not bear...please obtain them.

From this day forward, you are no longer the phantom of Rokkenjima who only plays tricks.
From this day forward, you are the ruler of Rokkenjima, and the one who waits for him to return until he fulfills his promise.

From this day forward, you will inherit that in my place.
Thus, from this day forward, you are no longer me.

I will push all of my suffering on to you... Please forgive me for being the only one to become happy.

From this day forward, you have the qualifications to detest everything.
You are the Golden Witch, Beatrice.

And someday.
Destroy everything, revive everything.
...Bless all lovers.

At that time.
...For both you and I to find happiness together...I will be wishing for from the bottom of my heart.

From this day on, you are not me.
From this day on, I am not you.
Let's split up our one soul and share it.
Each half will naturally be less than one soul.
But surely that will allow us to see more dreams than a person would.
May we be blessed...
My dear Beatrice...

Although no one else can see your form,
at least I can see you.
And if you are loved by many people,
surely everyone else will become able to see you too.
With love, we can see...

"...... Where is... Lambda... ?"

Just be saying that, it felt like I was admitting defeat... That rankled in me. Even though she was always there making noises and latching onto me when I didn't want her to... When I finally call her name, she doesn't answer...

Is she making fun of me? Where... is this?

Feeling that watching an ending I could already foresee happening was stupid. I left the great hall. Maybe I could find a cool terrace to spend the time while waiting for that farce in the great hall to end.

"Well, it's true that I kept on going in the direction where there were no people... But for there not to be a single soul here is too much..."

Am I, the great Bernkastel... lost?

As if this sort of miracle could ever happen.

Yes... There exists no miracles in this world. For a miracle to occur, there must be a "time that will never arrive" that is almost equivalent to an endless time. So for something like a miracle to happen in this place which has no such time... That is not a miracle, but someone's plan. In other words, I've been sucked into someone's plan now, made to walk this weird corridor...

A cat. It sounded like a cat. But there can't be a miracle of a cat in this sort of place...

This sort of miracle is "not allowed". If it's not a miracle, then it is a sign... to lead me in that direction.

Fine... It might be a new happening that will ease my boredom. If this turns out to be one of Lambda's new games... I'll make her use her tongue to cover her whole body with honey as a reward and stick parasols in her eyes so that she won't do it again.

The corridor is dark, but there is a presence.

Two emerald green eyes. Probably those of a cat. A black cat.

"Are you the one who called me? Or are you someone's messenger?"

Looking down at my feet, I could see bright red cat footprints leading to the cat eyes. An eerie footprint... as if it had stepped in some blood.

As my eyes grew accustomed to the darkness, it looked as if the footprints floated slightly in the dark. Not that it was glowing, but it served its purpose as a sign that I should follow it. As if asking me to follow, the cat turned and looked at me then walked off into the darkness.

What is this? This mysterious feeling. This feeling that I haven't felt in a long time, ever since I assumed the name of the cruelest witch in the world. Waht this feeling is... Somehow, I can't really remember. But... for me, who is tired of boredom... This must be interesting.

Walking down that dark corridor, I followed the cat. Forward... Turning... Sometimes going down stairs... And, I'm not sure because it was dark... I entered through a gap of a door.

"...... This is?"

I couldn't hear the cat footsteps, but the bloody footprints continued. In the distance, a white spotlight of light... The cat from before... was eating something frmo a bowl. I see... So that's your reward for bringing me here.

"Cat... I know I'm bothering your dinner... but why don't you get your owner to come... It couldn't be... You can't be the one who asked me to come here, right?"

It didn't even turn to look at me. Well, it's just a beast. Maybe if I kick it, it'll run to its owner...

[kicking sound]

"Hmm."

After kicking the cat, it flew against the wall like a stuffed animal and stayed there before disappearing into the darkness.

What's with this cat? An illusion?

"Tsk."

When I looked down at the bowl, it was blood covered raw meat.

"What is this... This bad taste treatment."

"Kicking it... was not a nice thing to do."

When I heard that voice, all my hair stood on end. Then, the surroundings began to brighten. But before the lights turned on, Bernkastel already knew where this was.

AuAu: It is, you know... That cat.
Bern: ......
AuAu: A cat that eats flesh... A cat who's learnt how to choose paths... It's been a while.
Bern: If you didn't make me learn it... It is a path I wouldn't have chosen. You monster who taught me the taste of flesh... So you've revived... Featherine Auaurora.
AuAu: Augustus Aurora... How many times have I told you, yet you never learn. That's fine. That too is nostalgic... I heard a lot of rumours about you: how you've taken the name of the witch of miracles, Bernkastel, and how you've been playing with kakera in unpraiseworthy ways.
Bern: I was only doing things you would... But in the end, I am no match for you. If what I did was unpraiseworthy... You've done things a hundred times worse.

Bern's actions looked as if they were relaxed, but to that Featherine, she seemed to be saying "don't be afraid". And from that expression on Bern's face... It seems Featherine had hit the nail on the head.

Bern: There's only so much insinuation I can take... A cat who eats blood-covered flesh and walks around leaving a trail of blood?
AuAu: ...... Don't be afraid... Look closely... Where is this cat whose dropping its face in bloody flesh? All there is is a plate of biscuits given to it as a reward for bringing you here.

Bern: That you like a bad-mouthed miko because it's not boring? Tcht... How stupid. If that makes you so happy, I'd rather stuff up my mouth... So, why did you call me here?
AuAu: Beatrice's game seems to have ended with Battler's victory. I've been watching... It's been very interesting.
Bern: ... You must have been interested in watching my clumsy role, haven't you?
AuAu: Oh no, it was a good performance. Even Beato must be thanking you.
Bern: ... Hmm... And? If you're here to ask me to recite Beato's game, I refuse... I am no longer your miko.
AuAu: I've watched all of Beato's games, Lambda's game, Battler's game... All of them have entertained me very much. I even have my own answers to all the mysteries... Culprit, motive, each trick... The riddle I haven't completely solved, but I have a deduction that I believe will be solved once I visit Rokkenjima.
Bern: And?
AuAu: Of course, as long as there isn't a single truth, my deduction is but one of many allowed possibilities. But that is within the scope of possibilities. It's just a matter of elimination.
Bern: What? You want me to debate Beato's game with you?
AuAu: No. Child, what I want you to do is reconcile the answers.

Bern: ...... I see... You want me to take up the role of biting into the innards and dragging them out, don't you?
AuAu: At the end of the play, reading a pamphlet and understanding the backstage happenings of the play, is as you say, like having tea after a meal. It's luxurious, but something that cannot be missed out.
Bern: When it is alive, you play with it and cherish it... Once it dies, you eat up its flesh to fill up your stomach... For you, a cat has double uses, doesn't it? Go die, you monster.

Bern: ......
AuAu: Just think of it as if it's burying Beato's bones and I'm asking you to carry out that funeral rite. What about that, my child?
Bern: ... That's a way of requesting that more befits my tastes.

With a twirl of her finger, the witch of observation opened one of the game boards. On it, the black and white pieces slipped into their positions.

Takano for example is neither ill or a monster, she was just mildly fucked up(and could use a Tomitake hug) and yes, she murdered a entire village--children included.

I wouldnt put Umineko to be more complicated than you think, just to remember the time it took for R07 to explain everything to Beatrice's seiyuu.

Takano is a monster, the crappy past she had didn't justify shit.
It's like saying that Hitler wasn't a monster because he was mildly fucked up and needed a hug.

There's no good reason to destroy an entire village or to kill 16 people.

"Jessie" is just a persona. Jessica may act differently at school than at home, but her feelings don't change. According to >>4434677, Beatrice's creator made her to take on the feelings she wished to get rid of, not just to act differently.

Though I'm no expert at psychology, so I guess it might be possible for someone to get so into a role that their thought processes actually change to match those of the role they're playing, and it does become a different personality of sorts.

Nah, she just snapped out, out of love for her ''grandfather''.

In the end all she really needed was a hug and someone who would comfort her, stop her and save her from herself.

The problem begins when people start speaking that Personas can go on killing themselves, fighting and having different sets of memorys.

A person can create a mask for themselves, a person can dump memorys and feelings into the depth of their minds(if they call it dumping into ''beatrice'' or whatever so be it) but from this to actually having DID is a long stretch.

Also the undressing and redressing would have to be fucking godlike.

Murderers have feelings you know.
The worst dictators have feelings, they even love their own family.
They are still monsters, there's no "reason" one can give to do such an unilateral, cruel choices killing so much people.

You are trying to justify the destruction of an entire village and the deaths of countless people because a woman simply snapped.
Sure would be a great argument in a court.

That's where the "Magical DID" theory comes in. You could also call it "Delusional DID" if you wanted to be loveless. Basically, the creator created a different person inside herself, but believed that person to be someone other than her, and not just a figment of her imagination. As someone else said, it's just like how Maria created Sakutarou inside the stuffed lion Rosa gave her, with the difference being that the person is creating this new being using themself as the "vessel", so to speak, rather than using an external object as a vessel.

If both the created (or imaginary, if you prefer) person and the original believe that the created one can take control at times, then the created one will be able to take control of the original's body, even though normally, a figment of someone's imagination shouldn't be able to take over their body.

Hell, do you remember Eva's little talk with Battler? Eva automatically became the most suspicious person after the first twilight of Episode 1, but Eva is far too smart to let things happen like that. If Eva had been the culprit, she would have done things to make it look like someone else was.
