I don't think this was the case at all. Mahoyo was released on 2012, but was in production much earlier, since it got announced in 2008. Fate/Extra was released in 2010, and that game used the old Tsukihime lore.
Nasu's new lore on the Ancestors was worked on in 2010, but he had plenty of time to do revisions since TsukiR was released in 2021.
Most likely any comparison between Tsuki pre Remake and Mahoyo maintains the old Tsukihime continuity in mind, especially when the last Tsukihime-related content before TsukiR is MBBAN manga which was released in 2016, and it has the old Tsukihime worldview.

Ciel route on other hand had major improvements and feels like new fresh experience and it is. Truly, I think this is one of TM’s best works, right alongside Heaven's Feel/Zero. Ciel is cute,wholesome,brave,self-sacrifcing girl which constantly helps and saves Shiki ass. Even Arc is better in Ciel route, then in her own. Ciel top girl of new near side routes!

Definitely an improvement over the original

Noel is a good addon, but I didn't feel like her presence had much of an impact on the story or Ciel's development. Definitely a good addition, but should have stayed as a gag character.

I did not like Arach during Arc's route, but by the end of Ciel I grew to like her. This includes her bombastic personality.

It's definitely something that you have to play after Arc, because it builds so much on it

Similarly I think that Ciel's route sets up a lot of stuff with demonology (Noel's flashback), that would be explored later

It is a bit of a weakness of the VN that you can't go explore those things now
Unlike other VNs it feels less like alternative routes and more like you're forced to go Arc > Ciel > X > Y > Z > D, which isn't bad, just different. It's also probably why True Arc route might be locked after every route is played, as it is a good way to start with the titular heroine and end with the titular heroine. Also the last route will probably be the one where we will get to enjoy the Tsuki world in its fullest.

Mario was an interesting character to have, but I think Ciel's route is where he shines, I doubt we'll see him in the far side.

To reiterate - a 100% improvement, very little reason to play the OG (especially when the whole thing is out). Which is refreshing, because for one a studio did a straight upgrade. The only thing I didn't like, which is a quirk of mine, is the expansive soundtrack. OG Tsuki had 10 tracks and by the end that thing was drilled into my soul. With how many tracks OG Tsuki has the only tune that stays with me is the Main Menu.

I have some more bad ends to unlock, but I'll take a small break before that.

Honestly, while reading this last part, I teared up pretty hard.

Getting to this point was amazing. As someone who got into Type Moon and the Nasuverse through Melty Blood and the OG around 2018, it just felt so unreal, and amazing to see us get such an amazing ending for Ciel.

Truly, I think this is one of Nasu’s best works, right alongside Unlimited Blade Works.
