whenever i browse neocities websites i'm struck with nostalgia but also with a little bit of sadness because i'm reminded that the internet used to be colorful, creative and authentic, in other words; the total opposite of what it turned into..
thankfully some devoted people try to rekindle that flame.
here's some of my favorite ones (jp related)

Based thread but why not post on the 2000's thread?

Seems like we're getting a lot of nostalgia threads lately. Maybe 2000s threads really should get a general.

No. They're fine just popping up when someone feels like posting one.

Maybe the second one, but I liked the first one. It's still clearly made for nostalgia, but I take what I can get

Do you recognize the font used in the text of https://rem00.neocities.org/

I like it since it respects the users and not like some shitbag fartastic idiot trying to shove down our throats the fartastic shit of a font that makes it hard to distinguish I and l, one is capital i, the other is small letter L. Who's the fucking retard who let this font lIIIlIIlIIllIIll become the standard font not just browsers and the web, but computers as well?

I didn't get internet until I was like 16, by then I missed most of that era. Feels bad, man.

The first site (the one from the OP's image) feels rather… artificial. Like an attempt of creating an early 2000s Neocities page by someone who has one idea how those looked like. It theoretically has all the components, but something just doesn’t click. More of a stereotype of what such pages were like than a genuine atempt at recreating one. It’s kinda similar to how the 80s are depicted in modern media.
The site also has some modern references, to Deltarune and other stuff, so that’s weird. I’ve no idea what the creator was going for, but it wasn’t authenticity.

He probably was going for
>It's current year but people still design websites as in the early 2000s
It's the guy who did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXl4kbUBil8 so he's good in my books
