• Strange, almost inorganic forcing of discussion in both the 2chan thread, the /v/ thread, and this thread, and almost hyperbolic overreaction over even the simplest "can this be fake?" questioning

This has all the making of being "le epic hoax" if I'm being honest. This also has all the makings of ZUN giving a promotional image to his manager who then gave it to some whatever on Melonbooks who then uploaded by accident, deleted the listing, then left up the image because he's dumb.

But do take note that the pixels for the watermark on the lower right are extremely similar to the pixels on this image and the upper line and lower line of the Melonpan image look like someone badly aligned the image in Photoshop.

Take everything with a grain of salt until there is an official ZUN post about it. If you see people trying to force this discussion to the point of making you want to throw up, there is a high chance of it being fake.

the reason there's discussion is because touhou's been in a content draught. We get short, often middling manga chapters, a real game every two years and a spinoff (often mediocre if it even comes out on time) every other year
we don't get real print works anymore, we haven't had a real music cd in over half a decade, and we don't even get SCoOW anymore
that's the reason it seems like the discussion is forced. We've had precious little to talk about for a long while

怪作 means it's a strange or unorthodox work. The game is a weird fusion of Phantasmagoria, WBaWC and 100th Black Market mechanics. He said he was satisfied with having made such a game. He mentions 世界観 (worldview/setting) in the same light and I suppose that means that he liked crafting the story too. Since it occupies the same space as PoFV in the grand scheme of things (he described MoF as a sort of new beginning), I'm assuming that it ties the past few games together.

UC is slop, a terrible one at that, the worst kind. Who cares if the mechanics are solid if the cast is so off-putting, it's viscerally repulsive and disgusting on every level? TD, on the other hand, features tightly knit cast who are all tied to each other, not to mention, are historical figures. Designs are great, and so are the characters.
I couldn't care less if the game was terrible to play if the cast is good, which should be the focal point, yet the loathsome drunkard seems intent on introducing elements from the "modern culture", which is like a fly in the ointment ruining everything.
