I used to date a Filipino girl when I was stationed in Japan. She was treated about the same by the Japanese as we treat Mexicans back home in Dixie. I think it just comes down to inherit mistrust of foreigners, especially when they take away jobs from the natives, even if they are low paying ones that nobody wants to do.
